Over here an audi a4 like that costs easily 4500/5000€...

I bought a 2001 Volvo v40 with 190 000 km's to my wife and it was 5000 euros here in finland.
Our car taxes are fucking sky high.
A VW passat like that is Between 7000 and 10 000 euros here.
IE, here is one with 140 000 km's and it is 12 000 euros:

Pft, you all got it cheap compared to the ludicrous prices we got over here. Still they want us to drive newer, safer and more environmentally safe cars. But to buy one you need to sell your soul and firstborn.

Okie I guess I should post pictures instead of talking about it

Bought a 1999 20v Audi A4 1.9  Turbo Quattro with 139,000 km for €1300 Euro. The car is perfect inside and out, with automatic transmission/tiptronic gearbox, ac, power everthing etc.  I was at work so my wife went and test drove it in the city. So she never really tried the motor. I finally got to drive it after she had done all the paper work only to find the car really sluggish. I also found that on the motorway the car refused to go over 140km. So hoping it was something stupid I took it to my mechanic to change the oil, filters etc. Only to find out the turbo was broken and the car was running in lag mode. The price of a new turbo was quoted at €1200 Euro. My mechanic was able to locate another broken turbo..but with the piece that was broken on my turbo still intact. So for €100 plus another €150 for labor the car is running like new. When I called the former owner they said that the car had run fine and that this was news to them (this is why I believe he had the price so low because he thought the turbo needed to be replaced) so I informed him the part only cost €100 just to rub it in to the bitch.

So all total I am into the car for the tune of €1550 which isn't bad as I hope it will last me a couple of years..it's also much more enjoyable to drive than my old Volvo s60.

I kinda suspected that, to be honest.

It's pretty common with used turbo cars that have suspicious low sale values. Just don't forget to change the oil now...

personally about 80% of the time I leave it in Automatic since I am driving long distances on the motorway for work. It's not a corvette it's a luxury sport wagon...I wouldn't drive a sports car with an automatic transmission...but in this it's a beautiful thing indeed.
