My new Nokia N900, its pretty awesome but only had it for a day. Not really much apps for it yet, and the ovi store is not even open for it yet, and the current version of mapping sucks, its still lacking a few features, which are due soon hopefully. However the browser is superb, and media player is nice handles xvids downloaded straight from here without any problems or need to re-encode.

more subtle with the same motor and drive train and a wider wheelbase = same performance, less tickets

Damn I envy you.

I wish the government of my country allowed people to buy such cars. Cause it's just cars like that I want. Not a 1.6 diesel or 2.0 diesel. Not always the smallest possible engine combination for all car models. Which is the accepted norm.

A new WRX STi or Evo would cost if imported (cause they are not for sale here) estimated 100 000 euro. Reminds me of why I want to move.

pardon my ignorance, but why would Norway prohibit cars like those??

I always thought of Norway as being a very liberal country

They are perfectly legal in Norway. Expensive as bloody hell but fully legal.

They add taxes on everything that is bad for you. Like a sports car or tobacco.
But not on spaghetti or meatballs!

Its to lead the people in Norway to a healthier life.

governments can't constitutionally (usually) legalize things they don't like, but they can tax the **** out of it until noone can afford it anymore.

in the united states it's cigarettes.. 40% of what you pay is federal/state fees, but i think this is just because they realize they can keep taxing them and making lots of money and people will just keep paying because of addiction.

#1219021 by Angelitta (Power User) at 2009-12-22 23:47:18 (3 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

You picked a bad example... cigarettes are taxed through the roof in Europe, just like gasoline and other things...

A 20 cig pack costs about 20-30 euro cents to make and it's sold after taxes at about 2.5 euro here and after the new year, they will go up to around 3 euro a pack.

I remember four-five years ago my university room mates buying packs at what would be now 40 euro cents.

The idea is that a part of that money goes to medicine for people who get asthma or lung cancer from passive smoking and so on.

Same with gas... high taxes with the idea of a part of those funds going to road works and so on...

8.5 - 9 eur for a 20 pack of "normal" cigs (marlboro, prince etc) here in Norway. And the prices are usually getting higher with every year
