Jtagged xbox and 1TB WD hard drive

Very happy with the Xbox, Ł130 for a practically brand new box with HDMI port, better heatsinks, flashed drive, PSU and composite cables, and of course Jtagged.

There is no "better heatsinks" that fit on the case that are significantly better enough for you to avoid RROD.

Unless! Read on:

My best experience with a JTAG (i can read temps easily so i know it made a huge difference) was to remove the drive (you really don't need it...) so i had space to fit in a CPU heatsink instead of the crappy GPU standard heatsink. And i mean the old version of the CPU heatsink, which is the best.
That way i have 2 CPU heatsinks, one for the CPU and one for the GPU.
I obviously had to make an alteration to the air vent in order for it to adapt properly to the new heatsink settings.
I also have the fans running at 70% constant speed, no auto shit...

The difference? On my xenon, the temps were 70ÂșC on CPU and 65ÂșC on the GPU on idle, now with a CPU heatsink cooling the CPU i have 68ÂșC on the CPU and 40!!!ÂșC on the GPU. While on full load i get 45 or 46ÂșC max on the GPU!
The console has had RROD several times and kept returning to the RROD time after time. Since i made this alteration, the console has simply been flawless.

You should deffinitely try it since you have a JTAG, so you don't really need the drive.

I also tried inserting a couple of fans on the front of each heatsink, they were running at 12V but i didn't see any significant difference. So forget that solution.

I've also fitted a few extra fans in it, sounds like a hoover now but does seem to help
Playing a game off the DVD drive for a while so under full load we get:

CPU 59.9c
GPU 59c

If i do get RRoD i'd probably just get it reballed with lead based solder, can't go wrong then.
I did have a thought about getting a HD-DVD drive, removing the HD drive and replacing it with the internal drive. I won't use the DVD drive much but it'll still get used so i'm keeping it, switching it to an external drive would be the ideal solution but i doubt this would actually be recognised in any dashboards

Those temps are normal for your type of motherboard. Give or take a few șC, those fans aren't doing anything else but noise.

If you fit in a CPU heatsink on top of the GPU you'll easily drop the temps to 40 ish, wish is a big improvement.
Also, for the drive, if you really want it fitted, you can always get longer power and sata cables so they connect outside of the case, where you will have the drive. It doesn't look pretty, but i think its's worth it if you really want to avoid RROD.

Decided to treat myself to a new CPU cooler... My old Zalman kept me awake with its loud buzzing.

And hey, 15 C lower temps is always nice
