Got a 23" Dell arriving tomorrow

DELL U2311H ULTRASHARP 23" WIDE TFT BLACK this one ?

On the look out for a new monitor myself.

Nah it's their superthin one. "Dell S2330MX 23" 58cm Full HD WLED Ultraslim"

Would love an Ultrasharp and no doubt I would notice a massive improvement but so long as the monitor handles a few hours of games a week, has even colour, decent brightness and no light bleeding then i'm happy. I've checked the reviews for it and it seems like a slightly better than average TN screen. The biggest issue with it is how light it is and how basic and flimsy the stand is. My desk is solid though so it won't be an issue.

Will invest in an mid-range 24"+ IPS whenever I have a spare £500 burning in my pocket and only if my 22" Samsung 1680x1050 dies. Had it a few years now and going strong (touch wood). It's a below average monitor so this new Dell will be a marked improvement. Just a pity it's got a slight green push but i'll try and get that sorted with a calibration profile.

edit: After about £12 cashback the monitor is coming in at £112 delivered... At that price, for a 23" full HD monitor with a brand name... Can't complain! Plus it has a free 3yr monitor replacement service if it dies or develops any faults.

Aaa ok.

Yeah im really thinking of buying the Ultrasharp there, but im not sure how it holds up in gaming ?

Price is good tho, on sale here in a norwegian store: 1699 NOK ( 300USD)
The Ultraslim you posted is around: 1450 NOK (260USD)

Dunno if thats better, mainly gaming im planning on using it for.

For gaming, I do believe a TN panel is generally considered much better for gaming than an IPS. While a good IPS monitor has amazing viewing angles and incredibly sharp and accurate colours that pop, their primary audience is for photographers, desktop publishing etc. IPS screens are not really intended towards the hardcore gamer - instead, invest in a good quality TN monitor.

This is just my general understanding having spend a day researching the Dell I bought and comparing to <£160 IPS monitors, so I may have picked this up wrongly...

Something worth posting...

A quality digital multimeter...  excellent value for money (50$+shipping... the ones from brand names like Fluke/Extech/Amprobe with the same specs are about 80-150$)

Been pondering for a while whether or not to do it but I've gone and done it.

Who wants to kill me in multiplayer?

Well, seeing as everyone else is doing it:

At one point I had it pre-ordered 4 different times without realising, lol. Only managed to cancel two of them before shipping though.

Put in about 4-5 hours so far, loving it.
