It seems to me you are the one who lack perspective and knowledge of history. Using nuclear weapons paradoxically saved lives, try to wrap your head around that. You ought to be happy that it was USA who was the first one to use it (and hopefully the last), instead of nazi Germany.

And how many civilians do you think would've died if there had been an invasion? Japan refused to surrender and would not stop fighting. Even though it might sound like a paradox, these two bombings did save a lot of lives when you consider how it could've been played out.

Not going to turn this into a debate since this isn't the place for it.
But I find it hard to justify mass murder of non combatants with what-if scenarios.
Also, you shouldn't base the facts around what you see in the cinema

Those movies are tailored to their audience and not historically accurate.

Yes, that I am well aware of. It doesn't take a sharp mind to understand what point I was trying to make, which was that since both countries had nuclear arms underway, it was highly probable that someone was going to use it. I say we're lucky it was USA and not nazi Germany, that's all.

This isn't really about what-ifs, it's about what would've actually had happened which was taken into account back then.
