You are right about that, Dave. Has the whole country in uproar. The national conservatory are afraid that cleaning it up using conventional method would leave a mark in the pattella of the stone as is often the case when you clean graffiti. Experts from Sweden has been brought in. And apparently Gelwane is a common Lebanese surname. And french as well as far as I can tell?! Not that I want to point fingers at Lebaneese or French people, but either it must have been someone who was indifferent about it or ignorant you know.. I'll let this thread get back to business..

Stuff like that revolts me...
On my parent's homeland there was this idiot that got inside the graveyards at night and stole/destroyed stuff from the graves. Insignificant stuff, he just did it for the kicks...
That guy destroyed a vase and scratched out the photo of my granddad's graveyard, among several other random stuff he did to other graveyards. If i didn't live in Lisbon, far from my parents homeland, i would teach him a lesson he wouldn't forget...

Anyway, the ppl obviously knew about his little hobby because word travels fast in a small environment, but like in every small town, things are managed differently, so instead of going to the police, they just went to the guy's house and talked to his parents. His parents were all like "Oh, my son would never do that! Blablabla"...

So this guy that lived near the graveyard took offence because he knew it was him, since he saw him with his own eyes. The next few days there wasn't any stealing but when the idiot returned, the guy living next to the graveyard was waiting for him. He phoned the families that were disturbed about his actions in the middle of the night. He just said "Go to the graveyard right now. He's there doing what he usually does."

All i can say is, he didn't sleep home that day...
