Socialism has various degrees and in general it's not bad but as with any type of political theory it doesn't work just by itself. A perfect society would have a perfect mix of communism, socialism and democracy.

Just like the Obama Care project, there are several other things in US which nobody thinks about.

Obama Care would guarantee a minimum of health protection to all people and if the person needs something done faster (A knee surgery for example) or a better drug rather than the default generic one, that person can pay for it or have the insurance pay for it. The keyword is "minimum".

Just the same, everyone living in the city is required to pay some fees to have their house protected by firemen. Firemen offer a minimum of protection for the community, by either stop a fire from burning your house or, by making sure the houses around yours don't get on fire. They won't build your house back from the ground after it's burned, you can pay extra for an insurance and insurance would pay you money to build another house.

Also, when you build a house, you pay fees to have your house connected to water utilities - these also provide a minimum, water through the pipes. If you want extra, like a swimming pool in the back of the house you have to pay for yourself.

The point is these things like firemen, electricity and water mains are socialist things but it's good that they exist and it's nothing wrong to add to this list a healthcare system.

No fireman -> house goes on fire -> wind gets other houses on fire -> several families suffer
No water -> no clean hands and overall worse hygiene -> more diseases -> lower quality of life and spread diseases -> lower standard of living of the community
no healthcare system -> more people not getting treatment -> more serious diseases and spread the diseases into the community -> more expensive to take care of it and lower quality of life for the community, emergency rooms more busy and more money wasted there compared to how much it would cost to have given the cheap treatment in the first place

The current US system is screwed up - you're paying thousands of dollars for stuff that's a hundred dollars in European countries with socialized healthcare and 90% of that money goes into insurance companies pocket.

It doesn't have anything to do with my opinion on anything or me being offended by anything as I'm not offended by anything posted here and I CERTAINLY didn't mean to go moral police on the internet. I don't give a rat's ass about politics or Obama. That wasn't my point AT ALL.

What I meant is...we're letting some obvious political activist (ab)use these forums like this is his own personal propaganda board. This thread is not meant as a propaganda tool, it's random pictures and Timex's pics have nothing random what so fucking ever. If you don't get this simple fact, then you truly don't know what propaganda is and how well it works.
