I know companies that still use fax, but I haven't heard of one still using dial up modems in the last, say, 8-10 years... The US is such a technologically retarded country :-P

Calling isn't outdated.
The fact that texting is more popular is just because that way is cheaper to communicate stuff that isn't worth a call: like the pppl who text them hundreds of times: "i miss u babe <3"

And also, you see more texting because you need the much more messages to say the stuff you could say on one call:
txt1: "party�?�?"
txt2: "yes"
txt3: "ur hous???"
txt4: "nope, tonni's"
txt5: "when??"
and so on,...

Its just socially easier to text than call since there arnt as many niceties attached to it that require you to waste time with, its very straight forward.

Fax machines are still widely used in businesses. Also, CDs are still used for music.

I would say 99% of IT companies still use dial up. If you are troubleshooting a problem, and the internet goes down or has been down, you can remote in via dial up.

Agreed. We continue to use dial up as a real backup just because of the fact that we can still troubleshoot a network if everything else goes down

We still use modems with broadband. 56k Dial-up modems are still used for fax, vpn, etc...
