There s loads of homepages with subpacks, i think there can be better use fore the space they would take on the tracker...
Thats true and untrue... for old movies you can find subs on such sites but for recent movies some groups always "forget" the subs so for recent movies u dont find in this sites even if theres on the dvd why? Because the ripped xvid dont come with the subpack so the other group releases are VERY important....
And subpacks arent important only for people who can understand english reading but they are the basis for people from other coutrys translate to their language making the release avaible to thousands more people around the world that without it whouldnt be able to download and see the movie and they always have better quality.... for "blockbuster" movies people make the whole subs but their quality isnt very good so when the real subs come out they have a better quality material to work with giving more quality subs....
And for example sideways DVD-r was out and there wasnt any subpack for sideways.... what the uploader could do was extract the subpack from the dvd-r and upload both the dvd-r and the subpack.... then the subpack whouldnt be a scene release but tb2 could make an exception....
exatract subs from dvd-r is very very simple and they usually 5mb that's not a problem to upload to the tracker

Says something of the userbase when 40% don't know what subs are...
Voted yes. Even if you can get subs from various subsites, the packs are synced with the releases etc. Saves lots of sync-work etc.

Subpacks are a must in a site like this, where most users don't have english as their primary language.
I voted YES, of course.
i wonder why will some ppl vote NO!!
not interested is ok ..
but no?!! kinda too selfish i don't need'em either ... studying all my subjects in english 15 years till now, but would like to have the option

I personally don't use sub packs but I can understand that some people would use these. If people will use them then why not upload them. For this reason I voted yes as well.

So they hate us, like our movies, and want subtitles so badly so they can better understand our movies?

Weak dude, very weak. Most quality films either come from someplace besides the USA, or are independent films that almost nobody in the US watches. However, lots of them are in english as well, with no subs for other languages. Most foreign releases come with english subs, so english people don't complain.
Besides that, you seem to think it's wrong to hate a country's gov't(or even it's people) and not like something they produce. The USA sure as hell loves the oil from the middle east, don't they? And *I* liked german sausages, even when Hitler was in control.

Hey, it won't hurt. If the uploaders agree on uploading I can't see why it's a problem.

Some user with a fast connection (like Urjuhh) could host an FTP-server where all the subpacks get uploaded to, like on TorrentBits.
i don't need subpacks but if someone does i say add em
maybe a dox section with subpacks would be great
or a 0day subpack like we do with the appz
they are only a couple of megs so its not that big of a deal if they are included with the movie itself

Yes!! ive been wondering why thery werent on TB before...
(This should also fix the need for mutiple releases of the same movie..etc(more people on one torrent instead of spread out..)
whe are somehwat an international community arent we..??
(Complete assortment of DOX?! JEAH!!) we need to setup a team, to collect al those for us and save the 'collective'a shit load of time..
must have to do with movies, i suppose. as i'm not interested in movies at all, i have no idea about this stuff.

Hey, didn't even notice the poll till just then (I come in through a "bookmark"). Good to see that my original post had some effect.
I voted "Yes" of course!
The main reason I would like to see subpacks on TB are -
1. Other subtitle sites host unverified, user submitted subtitles in text format, quite often with lots of OCR errors.
2. The text subs are often not in sync with the xvid you have (wrong framerate, delay, or even split into wrong number of CD's)
3. NO ONE else shares subpacks (that I can find, and no one else could tell me where either)
I've allways spoken English, but still like the subs. They come in handy for hard to understand scenes, loud music scenes, or when there is other noise going on while trying to watch a movie.
[edit] for those who asked - you just install VobSub put the subtitle file in the same dir as the avi for the subtitles to work
[edit2] I dont really care how TB will release the subpacks, DOX section would be cool (but there are a lot of multicultural ppl who arent power users too remember)
