Transsiberian (2008)

Had a slow start for my liking but sort of made up for it later.
However, the lead actor (Jessie) had no sympathy from me because they had her do something which I thought was out of character and very unlikely given she's a 50 kg weakling. That particular incident could have been executed much better and for a more sinister reason why she did it.

Not really a memorable thriller but okay for a one time viewing.

6.5 + 0.5 extra for gorgeous scenery = 7/10

Definitely one of the best films I've seen in 2008 or in the last couple of years for that matter. One of Val Kilmer's best roles for sure.

The Dark Knight at the cinema. amazing joker in my oppinion. Heath Ledger owned Jack Nicholson in the actor of beeing the joker.

I saw 2 movies today

Rambow's Son
and Doomsday

what the hell can you say about Doomsday? Except for "uuuuhm...", of course.
How many decapitations were there? Did they have to ruin one of my favorite Siouxie and the Banshees songs (Spellbound)? I dunno. It was alright.
SPOILERS (sorta): The bad guys were all really badass. They crammed the film with weird stuff. Starts out like 28 weeks later, then it's Mad Max, then some sort of mix between medieval times and Gladiator. And then, a car chase. Then a very predictable twist... aaand then an ending that kinda makes you hate Mitras character. Ergh. She might've rocked this part if they'd given her more than 3 lines. Logical gaps? Yes, and I loved them.

Rambow's Son on the other hand was just sweeeeeet. Loved it. See it!

This film gets extra points for telling a story in quite a different way. I didn't get it at all the first time, so watched it again with bf, asking him to explain

But a few minutes in the second viewing it hit me, ah yesss...

Other than that, quite slow and boring at times.

What a disappointment! Everywhere I read about how awesome it was, then I saw a few of the kung fu football scenes and thought wow that's pretty cool and funny. Then the movie turned out to be complete garbage, with the aforementioned football fantasmagoria lasting all of... two minutes? Bah.
