Apocalypse Now - 7/10 - Great craftsmanship and it is interesting to see the Heart of Darkness influences. But maybe the fusion of Conrad's work and Vietnam made it less accessible - and maybe living in the shadow of Vietnam would make me appreciate it - not more, just differently.

Act of Valor - 4/10 - Yawn. It wasn't a badass U-S-A-!!! operators operating CoD movie, and it didn't really have that half thrilling half realistic thing like BHD/BoB etc. had. Felt rather amateurish and without direction.

The Shadow - 5/10 - Probably the weakest out of Rocketeer/Phantom/Shadow 30s pulp comic book movies - but strangely enough with some of the most interesting source material. Well bits of it anyway. Good fun. Baldwin as a badass Batman who shoots first, asks questions second. And it works. Who'da thunk it.

Journey 2:The Mysterious Island (2012)
A very thin story with stupid peck jokes made it pretty weak and The Rock made it worse by being there instead of Brendan Fraser.

John Carter (2012)
Superb visuals and likeable lead but the plot was a little on the simple side and not that engaging.
A decent popcorn flick though.
A pity because Disney would have had a rival franchise against Avatar.
