Haven't seen Avengers but doubt it beats Nolan's Batman.

Safe - 6/10

(Straight up no brainer action flick. The only saving grace was some good action and Jason Statham.)

Totally different film...it's like comparing Die Hard to Shawshank Redemption

Not really they're both part of the Superhero genre of films and when someone asks which is the best Superhero movie they will both be mentioned.

Movies are compared by genres, so no, they are not comparable.

Well that's nonsense. The mere fact that they both superhero movies is enough for them to be compared and movies cross genres so both are arguably also action, fantasy, sci-fi movies too so what cause they're very different in tone they can't be compared

The moment Dark Knight rises there will be debate over which film was best.

Contraband - 7.5-8.0/10

Another decent film from Mark Wahlberg, some good moments, not amazing but 2 hours well spent.

Helps that I'm a Mark Wahlberg fan though. Non fans may find it not so good.

I would say that there is a difference though.

If you took away batman's costume it could be just an other action/crime/thriller type movie. But if you remove the costumes from most other superheros you would still end up with a superhero movie with "superhumans" punching through walls, jumping great distances, flying etc.
The only thing that really makes Batman into a superhero movie is his costume, there is no superpowers etc.

Of course you're right, true take away the gadgets and the costume and it's not a superhero movie, but they are there and Batman has never had superpowers yet that's never stopped him from being a superhero. Just because Nolan made the character as plausible as possible doesn't catapult him out of the genre. There's still a dude in a Batsuit using technology that doesn't actually exist to save the day from flamboyant villains. It's sheer insanity to think these films shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath.

So by your logic Meet the Spartans and Troy are comparable because both movies are about war ?

I think Meet the Spartans has a very specific genre called parody. It shouldn't be compared to any other.

Now, back on topic.

Paul McCartney Really Is Dead: The Last Testament of George Harrison - 6/10

Well, it's a mockumentary, so it can't be taken seriously. Some 'evidence' really has a case in the theory, but most is just far-fetched nonsense.

Think his point was that you can compare Batman and Avengers since they are both in the superhero genre, which is true and which one is better is all in your taste. And Meet the Spartans is not about war it is however a parody on a war movie..not the same thing brocookie. Like you said genres! think about it....please!

For the sake of back on topic

21 Jump Steet   hmm 7/10 had some good laughs from it which these days dont happen that often from comedy movies

Starship Troopers - 7/10 - It's absurd, it's nothing like the book, it's ridiculous and over the top. But it's great fun.

Haywire 6/10
Nice action thriller from Steven Soderbergh, big ensemble cast, but forgetable.

The Avengers 9.5/10

BEST SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER!
saw it twice and loved it both times, best Hulk movie ever, better Thor movie than Thor, better Captain America movie than Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow were awesome. Can't wait to see it a 3rd time

EDIT: Better than The Dark Knight IMHO, the best part of TDK was Joker (awesome!), not Batman (meh), and in The Avengers you have awesome superheroes and a great villain.

OK back to it.

No Strings Attached - 7/10 - If you like RomComs there's something wrong with you and thus there is something wrong with me. This is your typical 'seen it all before' completely predictable RomCom and yet I enjoyed it. Can't tell you why.

Avengers - 7/10 - Top popcorn flick but the middle third dragged on forever, and the lineup was not well handled and balanced. Expected more. But then again it is Tony Stark, Cap America, Thor, and heaps of fun.

The Awakening  6/10

Similar to The Others and The Sixth Sense. I had to watch the ending again to figure out she wasn't dead at the end. I actually watched it again on TV, as opposed to home cinema, in the afternoon
