Act of Valour - 9/10

Good action movie. The acting was shite, but to be fair, they weren't actors, they are real Navy SEALs.

Fucking hell...I am American and more patriotic than most but I thought it was complete and total shite on a massive scale. Like a DOD propaganda film all that was missing was the "this film brought to you by the CIA, NSA, Marines and US Navy"

Jesus it was like a terribly bad live action Call of Duty movie......how you think it was 9/10 is beyong my comprehension.

9/10 Because that's exactly what I wanted from that specific movie. It was in no way shape of form a good movie in the classic definition. But as a series of action scenes it was brilliant.

If not for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan...nothing better than a Straight to Video production at best. Bad acting, predictable overused storyline (straight out of a COD game), dumb voice over, and mediocre action that has been done better a thousand times.

Oh yeah, I know that completely. In fact me and a mate went to watch it and that's exactly what we thought. Mindless shit really. But to get to see real Navy SEALs doing what they do was what it was all about for me. And you're right, it was lifted straight from a COD game. The FPS shots from behind the guns and the slow motion pistol aiming etc. :lol:

The whole thing screamed of "Amurrica Fuck Yeah" ala Team America. But it was good for shits and giggles. Anyone who says it's a 9/10 for being a proper movie is a moronic overly patriotic dumbass. I thought it was 9/10 for what I personally wanted from the movie. Which was to see military stuff done right (or at least sort of) and to see Miniguns attached to boats shooting the crap outta something. All the other was blatent filler and flag waving.

Good little bit of realistic action, a little to much of missed bullets on the main character. Stupid how the courier does not know who the most dangerous man in the world is.

Dune.1984.Extended cut. - 3/10

I just had to watch this because of its notoriety. I had seen bits and pieces of it many years ago, but was still curious as to whether it could really be THAT horrendous. And it truly was!
Took me 3 tries to get through this absolute mess of a movie. Bad acting, bad pacing, baaad sfx. How on earth did this ever get released? No wonder Lynch had his name removed from the credits.

This movie must be where Picard (he's in it) perfected the "facepalm".

original i love. yes its not the greatest but i still class as a classic and one my all time faves

Yeah, the original cut would have been preferable, but it was the only version available on here, I think. The pacing would obviously have been a lot better, but I stand by the rest of my complaints.

Or maybe I'm just extra pissed that such a fabulous book got mistreated so badly. This is one movie where I wouldn't mind a remake.

problem for me is i watched the original cut as a teenager off my tits and enjoyed and then read the book many years later, then went out and bought the original 1st edition of the book... well the library edition but still same cover and worth something...
