Agreed.

Harry Potter and the deathly something something 6/10.

Dissapointed in this one out of many perspectives. First off, the recent harry potter movies have actually started to be pretty good movies, and not too bad in comparisment to the books.

But this one was pretty dull, and badly done according to the book. The book has the first couple of hundred pages as this one is with the traveling and all, but the book keeps it entertaining with the conversations and all that. The movie has nothing of that which dissapointed me alot.

(Then again I might have an extra bad precpetion of the movie since I saw it in such bad quality.)

I've been watching a lot of S. Korean movies lately. One thing to keep in mind, is that most of them are 2 hours long and might tax your patience. But I find that they're usually worth it in the end.

Castaway on the Moon 8.5/10
Really weird and amusing movie with an ending which isn't painfully depressing. Unlike most S. Korean movies I've seen. One of my favourites... mainly because of the weirdness.

Speed Scandal 7.5/10
Slow start, the second half more than makes up for it with hilarity. Another non-tragic movie which I didn't know was possible from S. Korea. It will leave you with a smile.

Welcome to Dongmakgol 7/10
Another slow starter, a good chunk of the beginning this time. Some dark pieces of humour, which I didn't know if I should laugh at or not. Hippie anti-war movie. I liked it.

I'm a Cyborg But That's OK 6.5/10
Really weird movie. I liked it a lot, I do like the weird ones that break the mold... something different. Most  people might find it a tad boring though.

My Sassy Girl 7/10
Flawed in many ways, though it was a fun ride.
Made the mistake of looking for the real ending (it was based on someones blog notes, which apparently happened) which ruined the smile I had after watching this. Still a great story though.

A Bittersweet Life 8.5/10
Reminded me of the Transporter, with a lot more depth. I really liked it, beautiful movie.

No Mercy For The Rude 8/10
Saw this one a while ago, really enjoyed it. Probably a little silly, still one of my favourites.

The Man from Nowhere 7.5/10
A Leon-like action movie. Lots of fun.

Thirst 7.5/10
A different perspective of the vampire genre. Dark and raw, but well made.

The Chaser 8/10
A well made thriller which grips onto you through to the end. Some might find it very painful to watch... not for the faint of heart.

Save the Green Planet 7/10
Interesting with an unexpected ending. The movie seems to jump from person to person showing different perspectives. Don't be fooled by the title (it's a slow revenge flick) it has some gory scenes and no sci-fi. It was pretty fun.

I Saw the Devil 8.5/10
This should be listed with the great revenge trilogy below. It explores another type of revenge. Amazing movie, but it's really painful to watch. I read a lot of people talking about how some games/movies breed murderers and write it off as nonsense ...if ever there was a movie that required a sanity check before watching, this would be it. I should have guessed by the name of the movie anyway.

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance 7.5/10
Dark righteous vengeance, which the S. Koreans do so well. Awesome. Revenge movies are a guilty pleasure of mine.

Sympathy for Mr Vengeance 6.5-7/10
Most will find this one to be the worst of the trilogy, but I liked seeing it from a different perspective (tries to show it from the wrong doers side) than usual. Not as good as the other two in my opinion, but still enjoyed it.

Oldboy 9/10
Anyone who likes films should watch this gem at least once. Considered part of a trilogy including the above two, not linked, but the same subject: vengeance.

Swiri 4/10
One long piece of propaganda. I'm not quite sure why I watched the whole thing.

A lot of cultural differences between the west and S. Korea, which I is partly the reason I find most of the above to be great movies. Something different than the usual Hollywood movie, they're not afraid of a grim ending to a great story and they don't water them down for a PG-13 rating. But of course, there are some great Hollywood movies out there too.

Apologies for the size of the post. I haven't posted much since joining TB so I'm playing catch-up here. :-P

The Devil Wears Prada - 7/10

Oh its such a chick-flick but I'm still rating 7 I can't say I feel like a manly man watching it but I do enjoy it alot. It's just so entertaining, I really like how the character Miranda is portraied

Cidade de Deus - 8.5/10

Thought it was great.  Hard to concentrate on the minute details of the movie while reading the subtitles though.  This movie feels a lot more realistic than some big hollywood film.

Your titles are clickable, perfect!

I rated Sympathy for Mr Vengeance higher than you did due to its incredible clever subtle cinematography, but movie wise I know what you mean.

Into the wild - 3/10 , boring and unappealing as hell, watched 70 minutes and then skipped through the rest...

The latest Harry Potter - 3/10 - Worst HP by far. And I liked most of them. Shocking, to be honest. Ninety minutes of dull nothing, the rest the usual HP fare. The whole aimless, desperate thing it tried to pull off didn't work for me at all. Or yeah maybe it did, because I sure was desperate for it to end. Now maybe part two will be an action packed spectacle but right now I don't see why they felt the need to split it in two.

Did you read all of the books or just the first ones? Because the 5th-7th are the best ones.

RED 7/10
Was alot better then expected, watching retirees kick ass was fun.

Not for me, I enjoyed the previous movies much more. Sure they were not deep, Oscar worthy films but at least they were fun and captured the atmosphere and magic of the books well, there was stuff going on. The Deathly Hallows aren't like that, the movie was literally 75 percent of... mindnumbing grey nothing in a forest.

Zodiac - 8 /10 David Fincher did a good job here. I wish the ending was a little bit different but overall a good and enjoyable movie.

Well even if they had shortened down the stuff they did in part 1 it would have reached atleast one hour of screentime, then add that to the part 2 and then you have a too long movie for cinema according to the studios. So its pretty easy to see why they choose to go with the splitting up into 2 parts (besides the obvious squeeze every penny out of the franchise)
