Snatched this myself too. So this is what Kick-Ass (the comic) would be like if it abandoned it's fantasy angle and replaced the teenage hero with an adult one. It's a very good film, and rather similar to one of my favourites from last year, Observe and Report in the sense that we are rooting for a mentally handicapped "hero", or hoping for him to be thrown into a sanitarium. I just think that films like this are bottomlessly interesting ways to explore our modern society. A lot of the people who are going to see this will root for these very sick and twisted fantasies because they're doing good things to this world but disregard the aspect of disturbed thought that has gone into them. It's a good picture because it's a new kind of picture; it pushes the audiences to extremeties and provokes thought in the process. If you get really entertained by this, take a long and hard look in the mirror. If you don't, great, you got it. But as a constructed vehicle to create these questions and thoughts it's an extremely good creation.

Shutter Island 6 or maybe only 5 of 10

I can't say what it was, but this film was really meh, had a solid start, dwindled of to a semi-predictable ending (which in parts seemed way too rushed,
The wife killing the kids thing
) and, as much as i like di caprio, this was nowhere near his usual performances.

I cant agree with you... the performance of dicaprio was good and it was not predictable at all.

Shutter Island - 8.5 / 10

Until 20 minutes before the end you couldnt tell if he was a real marshall or not, you just couldnt tell... both was possible... this is what mindfuck is all about.

Watched Crazy Heart. I didn't really like this movie that much. Probably less than it might deserve. The thing is that it's really, really predictable to me atleast. I almost guessed this entire film's narrative from reading the synopsis, and fully guessed it about thirty minutes into the film. Now don't get me wrong, predictability does not necessarily diminish the value of a film. But I think there's this certain line, and after crossing that line the joy of going "I guessed that!" becomes "Why am I watching this when I know everything that will happen?" Especially because I honestly don't think Crazy Heart is that unique in portraying this story, I really must question why I watched it all the way through. Probably just to see if it was as predictable as I thought. I still enjoyed some things in it, mostly Bridges though. He pulls off a very honest and lively performance that he seems to have just embodied. The film is really honest in everything too, from the realistic traveling musician-angle to the brutal portrayal of alcoholism and it's effects on bystanders. The problem is that Crazy Heart literally has nothing unique or new to put the table. Everything here just seems worn-out, and that's a damn shame because there is good stuff in here.

shutter island

7.7/10

i quite liked it

the mrs didnt twig at the end that he HAD accepted who he was but then made it sound like he had regressed again so that he would be labotomized.

as he said, "is it better to live as a monster or die a good man".

Mad Max 1 4/10

Mad Max 2 7/10

Mad Max 3 8/10

The first was a major letdown, had never seen it and it took too much time to build up, but the next too are definitely better.

The Taking of Pelham 123 7/10

OK, i guess. not that action-packed and very straight forward, entertaining

The Blind Side

7.5/10

Real cliche based on a true story. Really liked Sandra Bullock in this movie and Tim McGraw is a better actor than a country artist. The big black dude is playing good and all in all its a good movie with no big wows.

Certainly not Dicaprios or Scorseses best work... twist was mindnumbingly obvious.. Even from the trailer alone.  The added piece of dialog at the end simply tried to make the film cleverer than it actually was.

Precious - 2½/10

Oh Precious, why can't you be a good movie? The actors are fantastic. Every single one of them. Everything else, however, is just terrible. Precious really approaches Troma-like qualities in how over-the-top it goes in depicting these events. I understand that stuff like this can happen and be everyday life for some people. But I strongly also feel that these things are so utterly extreme that you really have to make me as a viewer give a damn about them. I won't go in that easy, I won't just give myself to a film without the movie pulling me in. Precious's way of pulling the viewer into the film is just using manipulative tactics of portraying inhumane dilemmas and overdramatising even the simple stuff. There just is utterly no point for a regular person such as myself to relate to in this movie. To me this whole thing just feels like a huge shock-value flick portraying mongoloid babies and incestous rape. Ballast did this poor black family-thing in a way more realistical and superbly crafted way that this movie just pales in comparison.

THIS! And the "twist" was obvious to me, it wasn't as stupid-as-show-them-all-the-scenes-again m.night shyamalan, but no flash of genius either. EDIT: Actually it was near "Sixth Sense" obvious, so forget my above statement. I am probably just pissed of since i had tremendously high hopes for this one and wasn't satisfied with the whole thing. Wanna see how a plot twist is done? Watch "Fight Club"!

Rewatched since it got upped some days ago:

Forrest Gump 9.5/10

I simply love this movie ;-; ;-; ;-;
