Zombieland  -  4/10

A weak sort of Shaun of the Dead remake.

Shaun of the Dead - 6/10 - I don't know if it's because times have changed since 2004 or that he's made some funnier stuff since, but this didn't really entertain me all the way through. Pretty good though. @qbert - i certainly wont be watching Zombieland then!

Going to watch 'Falling Down' next

edit: oh and I saw 'The Abyss' in HD - 7.8/10 - Really good film, glad i watched it

edit2: @kristo...i didnt know Sherlock Holmes was out yet..awesomeness!

I just went to see Sherlock Holmes with 5 other people (3 females, 2 males) and the opinion of all 3 guys (myself included) was that it was a fantastic movie and quite possibly one of the best of the year. The ladies didnt think so, and were actually a bit bored by it... one of them paid so little attention they thought the 'secret order' were vampires at the end of it.

Honestly, Robert Downey Jones Jr. is absolutely fantastic and made the role his own... The on-screen 'brother-like' chemistry between him and Jude Law were fantastic and the acting, top-notch. The storyline I liked too. I loved how there was the mystery and detective work going on and every now and then a decent big dollop of action to keep things running nicely - everything flowed so well, and they even set things up nicely for a 'Sherlock Holmes 2', which I pray to god happens!

Quite honestly an instant favourite and very possibly one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. This was one of those cinema visits where you don't mind forking over £7.50. My only regret was getting a slushy with my rack of ribs at TGI Fridays, which because of it, I didn't want a Tango Ice Blast, even though I really did want one but because of the slushy knew I wouldnt actually drink...

Im like Holmes, im a strange person that you'll never fully understand :giggle:

10/10!

spoiler tags you ass!

Very impressive movie, with some little flaws. The story was good enough to carry the movie.
But damn, watching a 3 hour 3D movie at the cinema is fucking exhausting!

crappy story 3d effects ok, special effects nice but wasted on such a rubbish movie. It is like spending 600 million dollars to make a twilight movie.

very good, retained the 'cheesy-ness' yet was still entertaining and a fairly good sotyrline.

What a surprise.  You wonder how In Bruges got an 8.1?

You do realize the #1 thing movie reviewers look at is the story correct?  In Bruges has a great one.  Bangkok Dangerous on the other hand does not.  Plus it has Nicolas Cage, who hasn't made a good movie in god knows how long.  What did you like about Bangkok Dangerous?  What didn't you like about In Bruges?  If you guys are going to rate the movies at least put why the hell you think it deserves the rating.

and jameswhe03 you might as well give Zombieland a try, don't let people dissuade you from watching movies just because they didn't like them because you might.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

We all have our preferences and I indeed also disliked Bangkok Dangerous but that's no reason to freak out.

The 'Burbs 8/10

Love the whole suburbia setting plus it's one of those movies I watched back in the early 90's which somehow still appeals to me.

the story wasn't great but it did have some action in it, the Bruges movie was very slow, and boring.. not everyone likes or dislikes the same movies.. plus its only my opinion you don't have to judge a movie according to my rating.

I have to agree with TekSomniaK on this one...you're the kind of person Michael Bay movies are aimed at and the type of person who finds something like Glengarry Glen Ross extremely boring.

Everyone has different tastes...but In Bruges received such a high score because it is a unique dark & funny film.  In fact it was even nominated for an academy award for best original screenplay.  Bangkok Dangerous on the other hand is one of the many terrible films Cage has bashed out in order to repay he debts...(Seriously look how many he has queued through 2008/2009/2010) Nic Cage hasn't made a great film since Lord Of War...The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans  was a decent film and not really a remake with some good acting from Cage. But it seems Cage is only watchable nowadays when he's playing a guy you don't really trust or a complete shit.
