Recently acquired a server from RedHotServers.
Very cheap, $119/month for some nics specs with unmetered.

But $139/month for a much bigger hard drive and faster processor, so that might be worth the extra 20 bucks.

Haven't really gotten very good speeds so far.
Stupid American boxes...

Leaseweb offers boxes with windows, awsome performance and at a good price. So all those who are interested in an "easy to use" box, pay a visit to www.leaseweb.com.

Good question.
Right now I have access to a total of 5 servers... 3 of them used strictly for torrent seeding.

do you make money from them..

or are you just generally a rich kid...who could buy anything he wants...but prefers joining the p2p coz buying a copy is not as fun as downloading and seeding at great speed...

sorry if some of these awnsers are irelibent i couldnt be arsed to read too the way down.

heres my setup for a defult seederbox.

since you cant set one up and copy it like in vmware (maybe i should make that virtual apliance)

fisrtly try and get a server with centos. it is as good with compatablity as ubunto.

then install webmin, i dont think they have it on the yum repositry but a simple rpm-ivh "url to webmin rpm here"

(detailed setup intrustions can be found on site)

now for trrent flux the most userfreindly one i know of, i tihk you need apche and mysql not sure about mysql though. very simple either use webmin and their softeware section with a few well placed clicks or in the bash just type
yum install apache

yum install mysql

im not sure about some torrent clients some might be on the yum repo, but if not their will usally be a rpm for easy instal. just use the same cammnad i gave for installing webmin but instead of the webmin url just use the torretflux or whatever url.

if this seems cryptic or you get lost look as software instll structions and figure things out.

sorry about my bad spelling, its not my secound language in just a lazy typer.

im just wondering myself now whats the best client for windows with a nice web interface thats user freindly.

MMO servers on the other 2.

#816105 by unknown[25007] at 2007-06-04 00:29:15 (6 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Bleh, I've run into too many issues with Red Hat, Fedora and CentOS; I'd highly recommend getting something with either Debian or Ubuntu installed -- very much simpler, very much more stable.

As for torrenting, it's almost silly to not consider torrentflux-b4rt for all your web-interface needs!

i had more problemns with debian then with centos. could just be my hardware, but i agree that rehat has got a good basic core but when they built it up it became unstable. i think that thats all been fixed in centos.

but if your gonna instll it on ahme comp then use ubunto as it is the most userfreindly.

I've found good servers to be with a2b2.com based in the UK get great seeding speeds when I do share - however my server has a 2TB limit so I don't seed that much

lol why would you post a picture of it going 30KB/s

edit: I'm thinking about a seccond server in .nl... (currently have LT .us) does leaseweb ever have some decent sales? should I wait, I hear vectoral is good but only 5MB/s on threads to leaseweb scene sites

that pic was snapped to show the interface, not the speed.  It is on a priv tracker, so all of the fast leech's were off of it.  It was going at about 4 mbytes a sec tho

Another good company to go with is cheapvps.co.uk! Their high-spec VPS's are great for seedboxes !

Why do some of you ppl pay good money, just to have a box to seed?
You are literally paying out of your pocket for a "statistic"....

Does it really matter how much TB's you upload at the end of the day? Is it worth all that money?
I can understand renting a box for specific server needs (gamehost, websites etc etc) but just for seeding?
I dunno, sounds crazy to me. Not to mention a waste of money.

I agree with you Sayf, but some people, ie. Uploaders need them to put out releases at great speeds for you guys. I guess others want them for e-penis size or sumthin'.
