can any australian users recommend a seedbox service? seedunlimited has great speeds for torrents, but ftp/sftp speeds to .au are not the best

Customseedbox or otherwise know as Pulsed Media ,have had a Dedi with them for over 18mths and FTP speeds are good

I have had seedunlimited for 2 months, and their harddrive just went down for the third time. Each time wiping all my data.
Their support is also crap. REALLY crap.
I'm thus taking my seedbox business elsewhere.

EDIT: after 2 hours i got a reply on my support ticket, an they called the 3 crashes "bad luck"....

I just created an account on Feralhosting, and already they impress me. I get 250gb less storage space, but better speeds and a lower price. (from seedun. 750gb box to FH's 500gb)

The setup time after payment was done was lower than 2 minutes. I didn't even have time to finish reading my welcome email, before my account/login info was received

So far so good.

can anyone reccommend a good seedbox server in Europe (North EU) -

* cheap
* easy to set up
* windows platform
* not much room and traffic needed (200 Gb room is already OK actually)

SeedUnlimited Account. I am loving every minute of it.

I've never had a problem with my box from them and my upload speeds I've seen steady in the 5-6mb/s range. at 15 USD / month for unmetered connection seems to be a pretty good value imo.

Thanks for this recommendation, did a 24hour trial before hand, and loved it. Signed up after only 2 hours

alvotech.de (servers in Amsterdam)
They do good deals on their vps accounts with a 1gbps line. Can't go wrong with them if you feel you can set it up for torrenting.
If anyone needs help setting up a server for running torrents drop me a PM and ill be happy to help.

And im always looking for people to share a seedbox with, just PM me how much space and active torrents you need (unlimited bandwidth) and ill see what I can do.

:-D

Have to agree with this, been with evo for 6 months or so now, great speed and they dont oversell. As for support im usually giving it rather than needing it but there is a load of us in the irc chan and they are all helpful.

damn seedunlimited box acting strange.
a couple of minutes ago looked completely dead. no torrents, no anything. rebooted - nothing. rebooted 2nd time - the same. then I started to write to the support. checked again - it's working. god damn piece of shit. if this happens again, then I'm canceling my subscription. I have a good ratio anyway!

Depends on the software on your seedbox. I have deluged so I use flexget and the RSS feed. Most clients have RSS readers for those that don't flexget is nice and easy to use.

#1424240 by plasmaLCD (Power User) at 2011-08-19 20:19:24 (1 year ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Thanks guys. Got it solved. Using RSS feeds now.

Just don't try using the said autodl/flashfxp script posted elswhere here, unless you can code......well i say code, rewrite it from scatch lol.

Btw, Evoboxes mentioned above has now merged with Rapidspeeds, admins are still the same from evobox side and the irc chan is still the same, still good service aswell, but just a heads up for anyone,

Google can provide you with both links

Edit: i still have boxes with them just for point of fact, seeding here, fxper's elsewhere.

Im in the market for a seebox and I see that Evoboxes is being recommended here but I cant see that they are offering FTP or windows OS.
Also, since Im kinda new to this I have a question.
Q: Is a seedbox like a VPS? If not what is the difference?

#1427703 by unknown[136747] at 2011-09-07 12:33:53 (1 year ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Evobox is no longer , they were taken over by Rapidspeeds.
The OS you get with 90% (a guess) of seedboxes is Linux of some kind and you will get FTP no matter who you go with.
Does not matter if you don't know how to use Linux as the most you will ever use is the Webui and FTP,which are both very easy

EDT: Yes a seedbox is the same as a VPS

I am also in the market next week for a seedbox and also being new to it am currently searching for any information on the issue as we speak .

One thing i would i like to ask is setting up the RSS/auto download setups via either seedunlimited or Rapidshare fairly common sense? I've not really attemped anything like this for a long time. I also notice the price differences is quite big as well, Rapidshare worth the extra cash?

Thanks for the info.

@ Ebolauk, if this is your first time using a seedbox it would be good to start with a slot , which means you are sharing the server and connection with other user's, but that's OK for starting out.

it seems that most people move on to a Dedicated server eventually , as you have more control over things and the connection all to yourself.

how much space did you have in mind ?
seed.st have a good setup going atm , you can get 250GB of space with a 100/100 connection
i am thinking that this would be shared with 4 user's "thinking'

and then after you have got the hang of things and feel comfortable with using a seeedbox go and get yourself a dedi ,you will so glad you did

i have one from seedstuff.ca so i can vouch for them , you can get a 1TB dedi ,root access, for US$40.00 a month, 5TB upload and then shaped to 10mbit, internal traffic, that is ,server to sever traffic is not counted, so the chances of going over the 5TB mark is slim , unless you use pubic trackers or torrent sites where there are not many seedbox users

i got a 1gbit from them and they set up everything for me , all the plugins i wanted including autodl-irssi ,
autold-irssi is amazing , i was shocked at how much quicker you get your torrents before they show up on the tracker , by the time they do you are already a seed sometimes !!

the autodl-irssi plugin for ruTorrent Webui is a lot faster than using RSS Feed

myself, i would avoid seedunlimited , seem to have seen a lot of user's complaining about them

feral and RS are good but RS looks expensive

so in a nutshell ,to start with, i would give seed.st a go ,for 10 bucks a mth you can't go wrong, the site is showing that you will get 2MB/s up , but i am sure you will get a bit faster at time's
then when you get the hang of thing's grab one of those 1TB ,$40.00 a mth dedi from seedstuff.ca

seedeboxes are great, no more leaving the pc on all night seeding your torrents , free's up your home line for faster browsing and the money you save on power pays for your seedbox
done:-)

i have nothing to do with either seed.st or seedstuff.ca , i am just helping out a user's

feel free to pm if you want Ebolauk :-)

Big thanks for the info,I am experimenting (read working out what the fuck to do slowly with RSS/Cookies lol) from that seed.st on a week basis atm (Less than £2 wtf !!), might need a prompt but i shall report back soon.

Big thanks to Ularu for the info <3

:edit: followed the tutorial to the letter and got stuck before i realised i missed 1 tick box, now it works fine manually, nice speeds as well (at least on the pron lol), next step tomorrow, auto downloads and how to get the file from the seedbox to my pc !!

(wish i did this years ago)

Thanks ularu for the post & info!
@all

I've recently moved from a private residence to a 4 separate person rental dwelling. <snip>. 'nuff said.

I live in California, US. Anyone know of any great deals or places to stay away from because of my location?
Or point me in the right direction to get started as a first timer /fast learner?
thanks in advance... much appreciated
Edit1:
My head hurts, Waaaaay to many choices from so many places... finally decided to just go for it (for testing) from
SeedUnlimited. All sold out hours ago when i started but kept refreshing until 1 showed up as available Hope this helps someone in deciding; ( Seed-115 one left ) took less than 4 minutes to activate & ready to use after purchasing. I'm sure by the time a month goes by I'll be able to find one that suits my needs elsewhere with out the migraine.
Edit2:
Is it possible in "rutorrent" to remove individual files from a torrent loaded on the seedbox ?? Like in ut?
Yes it is possible, BUT not using opera 11.52

or do i need to put ut on the seedbox?

No Not necessary, Switched from** Opera 11.52 to Firefox 7.01 Done deal Resolved
Thank you!

Edit3:
Well for the record it only took a week to power through SU's Seed-115 hdd space, quickly learning the basics, I went over to seedstuff.ca webpage to look for new deals, also noticed they say it's a 7 day wait or up to 7 days to get setup / log-in info... soooo I went ahead & got one of those 1TB $40.00 a month dedicated s, purchasing via pp the only small print I didn't notice was the auto-recurring payments. 30 minutes after confirmation of pp payment I receive the dedi's srvr information / setup mail. heads up to anyone on the edge.

jizEdit4:

**For proper page rendering of the context menus using rutorrent under Opera or FF >> go to >>> Tools >>> Preferences >> Advanced tab >>> Content >>> select >>> "javaScript options" & set the flag to "allow scripts to detect context menu effects". Mine was off & the reason I assummd wrongly that rutorrent did not work as expected in Opera 11.52. My error, Opera 11.52 does indeed "work as expected" under a linux seedbox w/ r, rutorrent.

much thanks to Ularu for the help to all!

Edit5: Update
After 60 days of learning & enjoying w/an SU acct. cancelled due to wanting more control over rutorrent ...

The speeds & stability was great for those 2 months. I moved on to try out feralhosting via the Neon-2... a bit of a Christmas stocking stuffer for me & to contrib /give back to the TB Community. Thank you for being here TB!
fyi, still have the dedi@seedstuff.ca as well. Nothing but greatness there. Happy Holidays to all.
