Does anybody know what speeds do you get on xirvik semidedicated service. I am thinking about getting 3XL - Performance packet on French server?  I am currently paying  30 euros for 140gb 1gbit shared service. Download gets up to 300 mbit  but I cant get more then 10mbit of upload and i have to find another provider.
Thanks for info.

I'm thinking of getting a VPS for a seedbox, and I had a few questions. Is it wise to get a VPS with a larger storage capacity so it can be used as cloud storage? Could I increase the security/privacy of the VPS with a proxy or tunneling service like torrentfreedom?

Also, I have not the greatest choices for ISPs here (in Canada), since I can't get the bandwidth I want for a decent price, so I think a seedbox would be better than shelling out a ton for the most expensive plan from any the the ISPs (They cap at like, 100 GB/mth for the price of a cheap dedicated server). I'd like to be able to customize it, though, run linux, set up rss feeds for automatic downloading, etc. Is this a good idea, or should I just go for some seedbox with a webui and ftp or something and save the money? I did find a host with a basic VPS plan for around $20-30, but it only has around 10GB of storage, which is a less than what I ideally had in mind.

Any insight or advice would be awesome.

Bought a kimsufi from OVH yesterday, all working fine but not sure how often the bandwidth usage is supposed to be updated in OVH manager? Consumed this month/Remaining this month shows nothing atm (after 24 hours) - any kimsufi users here with the answer?

edit: took a few days but now it's working. Got a bit of extra traffic for free I think. :p

that looks to be a good deal if the peering is good and if you need a high transfer server.

Anyone know some good (and cheap) seedboxes with free or cheap Windows installationfor remote desktop use?

Leaseweb seems to offer pretty cheap Windows boxes and Hosting-ie. I have had Leaseweb box some time ago but I dont have any experience with Hosting-ie. Tried to contact Hosting-ie but they dont reply to emails neither they have ordering buttons etc on their website which is weird. :p

Noticed that myself, doesn't seem like hosting-ie wanna sell anything atm. I know they have active resellers that sell, and I know they have seedboxes still alive that works perfectly fine. Maybe they are doing something, who knows really..

Since everyone seems to be promoting their own favorite providers without really talking about speeds, I'll have a go at it and post what I'm having.

I'm on FeralHosting, on a shared seedbox of 1gb line, 160gb space. It's 15 Euro a month, 1TB upload bandwidth. My records are very steady ~30m/sec download and steady ~6.5m/sec upload. Feral advertises a guaranteed minimum output of 100mps on a 1gbps line.  Honestly I'm averaging about 1 meg per sec upload on 8 Torrentbytes torrents, and I am 100% sure I am limited by the tracker's demands. On several occasions I added a new torrent when I was uploading slowly... Quickly rising to 4 or 6mb/sec. Make sure you mess with the settings and boost that connection limit and slots.

My mind might be playing tricks on me but I think they may have tinkered with mine when I go overboard. I usually make the upload slots to 45, once in a while it's back to 15. I can't say if it's an auto reset process or if someone is manually checking and changing it. Anyways I was never given a warning and I don't think my speed was ever affected afterward (stealth slap on the wrist).

Capping the 1 TB limit is very easy given the fact you keep your torrents fresh and add some active FL packs.

I'm very satisfied with what I have, the installation was made within 30mins and I had everything I needed to get started. I am halfway through the month and I've jut hit the 1TB mark (about 75% of that is on Torrentbytes). Were I to rent a seedbox again I would go with Feral again, the Burst Reloaded (10gb shared line with minimum of 250, almost 1TB HD space and 3TB bandwidth limit.) for 45 Euro.

If anyone else has FeralHosting info please post I would like to compare, I'm wondering if Feral is as good as I think it is or if I was lucky with my "unknown seedbox-sharing friends".

Edit : As far as speed goes after you've hit the 1 terabyte limit, upload speeds are capped at about 110-120 kps. so if you hit the mark early you can seed about 10gb per day until your month runs out.

Has anyone tried the latest offering from OVH:

http://www.kimsufi.co.uk/ks/

I currently have the next spec up seedbox and was thinking of trying this one for cost savings but i'm not sure if the processor will cause an issue when creating torrents?

ooh, theyve gone down in price!

edit: the cheapest one there is good enough with 20 large torrents seeding at a time easily on Transmission/WINE+Utorrent

Sod it I'm gonna try it, will report back soon.

Regarding processor i was thinking more about the physical creation of a torrent file as currently I can create a 4gb torrent file in around 1 minute, as long as the smaller processor can do it in around 2-3 minutes then will be good.

oh right, i dont know about torrent creation times on it.

you wont be disappointed with the server though, the ones i had with OVH ran for 6 months with no restarts or downtime
