There may well be an error message in the actual utorrent not the webui as the webui doesn't have a tracker tab. Try using a port in the range of 45000-65000 nonetheless.

I tried that and the torrents still won't connect. Any other ideas aynone?

I got both leaseweb & OVH. No problems at all with both of them. OVH seems to be the better one speedwise in my case, it easely gets to 12mb/s up and down.

If i had to keep just 1 of them, i'd def go with OVH. The price for the hardware you get is awesome together with unlimited bandwidth.

is anyone using kimsufi l(under new bandwdith standard/burstable category) . How r the speeds through the day and does any body experience ping breaks , i had one few months back and it went into no sla and there were massive packets drops and as  result my ftp was horrible and ut also dint perform favorably.

Hello guys. As I'm planning to rent a server somewhere, I would like to know which sellers STILL don't mind torrenting on their dedicated seedboxes because I would't like to use it for 3 days and then be limited to minimal speeds. (leaseweb, OVH, dedibox,...)

Please advise.

OVH doesn't really care as long as it's not public trackers

hmmm.. thinking of getting a seedbox. only thing that worries me a little, to not empty my entire wallet, i should get a linux box. BUT, i have no clue whatsoever how to use a linuxbox. I've never even touched a linux cd

Which OS would you recommend, and is getting it to work as a torrent seedbox difficult?

#1081427 by unknown[26339] at 2009-01-26 21:52:38 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Until recently I was a noob to Linux but due to lack of cash I took the dive into a OVH server.

I opted for the Ubuntu desktop OS and trust me it is soooo easy.

You don't need to have used it before and it has transmission (client) preloaded and you can connect remotely and log into here with firefox (preloaded).

So easy and so many on here will help if you have issues.

This prick that owns astadatacentre has been on a few torrent sites trying to get customers and been banned from most of them. I wouldnt give the bloke the time of day and highly recommend that no one else gives him any money.

There is something very shady about the way this guy operates and up till a fortnight ago his site was a complete rip off of the seedhost.eu site.

Devilizer - Get yourself an Ubuntu server and install the Ubuntu desktop. Install NXServer and the NXClient on your pc and log into the server that way and use the desktop. From there you can do just about everything from installing a torrent client to setting up a ftp server for yourself.

How long does it take to have dedicated server ready from seedhost.eu? I ordered one 1/2/09 and confirmation of payment came 5/2/09. I still havent got any login info and they're not responding to support tickets or emails... status of the service is "paid" and "pending." WTF can I do or is this normal?

Hello!

I've got a seed box @ Santrex. But when I add the torrents it doesn't download.
If I add them to my uTorrent on my own PC it downloads rigth away.. What to do? :/

Same as bigdan908..

Edit: Solved for my part atleast. My box had gone cold, and is now moved to at new server and works fine

Can anyone give me heads up on a good Canadian dedi host?

I know of a few but i am looking for a good price, and maybe some torrenting?

So I was under the assumption that with the passkey, all I needed to do was upload the torrent to the remote box. However, I've had a problem with this site as it's been giving me a 403 forbidden error. I also tried logging into the site through lynx, but that didn't work either. Anyone have any ideas?

Sadly not :/ Only .ca ones I know of are priced quite high and have pathetic bw amounts for torrenting. Better for hosting tbh.

server.lu seems to have good peering globally. Ive tested torrents on all hosts together and guess what, this had max uploads on same 100mbit boxes.

Either can run flux but why when there are lots of other less resource using clients out there ?

I used to come across similar problems on my seedbox with the uTorrent webUI so I changed to Linux and Transmission, which comes with a nice webUI. I also wrote my own Windows app that looks like uTorrent to control it... It works as a .torrent handler from firefox and does most of the things you'd expect in uTorrent. ^_^

It's GPL if anyone's interested ... Most people seem to prefer rTorrent tho, so it's probably not of use to many

I'm looking for a seedbox outside EU or US. I think it would be better in terms of conflicting with the law, or am I wrong?

Does anyone have a good piece of advice? It might even be Africa, I don't mind...

@ajf88: i use and love ur transmission-remote

The Linksys NSLU2 works perfectly as homeserver with transmission and samba.
