If you're a windows user of a seedbox (especially if it's already using transmission) you might want to take a look at the client I've been making:

http://code.google.com/p/transmission-remote-dotnet/

Here's some screenshots of it in action: http://code.google.com/p/transmission-r … creenshots

Hopefully it's useful to someone here, there's quite a few people that've let me know it works well for them and I've even had a few patches recently.

If anyone is interested I can buy a server or two from OVH. pm me if interested.

Cool. It's good you waited because now it's the end of term I've had time to release a 3.0 version. There's a load of new features and a completely new UI which makes it look like real bittorrent client (the old UI was pretty much just a table with a few buttons). Screenshots of the new UI have been updated on the page linked above.

While I'm at away for the holidays (and the bt box at home which runs Linux) I've installed the Windows port of transmission on my laptop and it works pretty well with that too.

Let me know how well it works for you.

I recently rented a seedbox to help boost my ratio since my connection at home allows me to download at a reasonable speed, but uploading is difficult because I live with 2 other people and that seems to be the biggest issue as far as slowing down our connection speed.

I am able to log in and load up torrents just like i normally do, except I can rarely connect to peers.  I can connect to seeders just fine and download fine, but only occasionally connect to peers.  One in particular has 70 Seeds and 140 Peers, connected to 30 Seeds and 0-2 Peers, and upload at only 1-2% of my max.

EDIT: I hav it set to allow up to 10 peers per torrent, so I know that is not the issue.

I know ports are an issue when seeding from home, and I have to manually open them on my router in order to connect to others, but I would assume a seedbox would be set up that way.

The seedbox runs TorrentFlux with Transmission.  It has no bandwidth limitations and runs on a 100Mbit connection.

If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

Don't think I am allowed to post the site, so i didn't, and I don't think its really needed...

Try using BitTornado rather than transmission and see if that helps with the peer dropping problem.
When I used flux I always used BitTornado and never had that issue. hth

Thanks a bunch, it looks like it is working.

Just wondering if anyone has any good / bad experience with leaseweb as a seedbox host. It seems they have a pretty extensive TOS etc..., but some people seem to recommend them so does anyone know if they monitor things very closely or what?  If not any suggestions for a cheap dedicated?

Looked at Vectoral and Corenetworks, Vectoral is a possibility, core a little slow / in the US so open to suggestions.

i can recommend leaseweb. the 6 or so months i was with them i never received a complaint from them regarding the content i had on my box.

They didn't care what was happening as long as the bill was being paid.

you will also need to watch bandwidth transfer as i ended up with a $400 bill because i wasn't careful

I heard you have to like "hand" sign some agreement with your mouse or something, is this true?

I used LeaseWeb for about six months and they were great. Speeds are great, but you will want to limit them because you can quickly rack up a huge bill if you blow through your bandwidth. They don't care what you do just pay your bill.

I didn't have to sign anything, but I ordered in May 2008.

They are vectoral resellers.

Those boxes are exactly the same as ovh's, except they cost more than double lol

I got both leaseweb & OVH. No problems at all with both of them. OVH seems to be the better one speedwise in my case, it easely gets to 12mb/s up and down.

If i had to keep just 1 of them, i'd def go with OVH. The price for the hardware you get is awesome together with unlimited bandwidth.

guys, im using utorrent with wine on a keyweb box, somehow i dont get full duplex speeds consistently, the uploads almost pause when i download and i miss out on a healthy ratio.

I start of blasting at 11MB down and 6UP and within 10 seconds uploads become negligible, sometimes it shows as disk overload and sometimes doesnt but same situation with uploads. Please can some one recommend a nice utorrent setting.

Cheers.

Probably the disk is too slow to handle that speed. Go to options-advanced-disk cache and override the cache size to about 75% of the (dedicated) memory you have currently available on your box, this might help a bit.

I am having a problem downloading and uploading from TB on my seedbox. The download doesn't start it just sits idle. Any idea?

Well dunno wat happened but suddenly speeds r shooting over the roof, upto 25MB and torrents finish in least time with no speed lags..

Cheers and thanks..

No error message, the downloads just won't start. It is uTorrent webgui and i dont know what os they are running it on. Does TB block certain ports, I looked around but couldnt find out.

There may well be an error message in the actual utorrent not the webui as the webui doesn't have a tracker tab. Try using a port in the range of 45000-65000 nonetheless.

Total rip off.

I can beat most of those prices by at least £15. The setup fee is a con.

I am looking for a partner who's interested in getting a seedbox from ovh, particularly this one:
http://www.ovh.de/privatperson/produkte … torage.xml as it's writen it has 6 TB of disk space. If you're interested in splitting the cost please send me a message. I can buy this server, because ovh is available in my country (price is the same). I don't need that box for seeding torrents but for ftp (so 2GB of ram is pretty enough) and I generate 1,5 TB average monthly because I don't need more, the rest is for you :-)
