I am running torrentflux on my seedbox. Everytime I cut and paste a link to start a download I get the following error message. The cut and paste method seems to be working on other bit torrent sites. Does anyone know how to solve this so that I can seed at amazing speeds here at torrentbytes?
btw I am sometimes seeding at around 500kbs on another site.

Error

There were Problems

Content returned from http://www.torrentbytes.net/download.p … NO.torrent does not appear to be a valid torrent.
Set debuglevel > 2 in 'Admin, Webapps' to see the content returned from http://www.torrentbytes.net/download.p … O.torrent.

The URL doesn't include your passkey and as a result it won't work unless you have the required cookies.

I don't know if TFlux has cookie support.

Hello, all of you.

I've had a seedbox with seedhost.eu for a little over a week now, and I have to say that I am more than happy about the service. Support is fast, and the admin is very easy to talk to and he's very friendly. They are a reseller of OVH, and the prices are inflated a lot, but even so, I find them very cheap. I always get 11 MB/s in both directions any time at the day. Affordable servers and very good in general. I recommend them.

Do you have a "1-person server " or "a shared server" ?

Edit:0 Available on everything there
Does anyone know how to contact them?

Someone (maybe TB?) should create a page where people can add hosting companies and post site reviews for them.

So you basically end up with 3 sections:

site (user-friendliness, how easy is it to find info and how accurate is it?)

Sales (post experiences when you actually ordered something from the company and how well they supported you in doing so, delivery of the said server(s) etc)

Aftersales (did you have any problems with the server after you ordered it? If so did they provide good support?)

Then maybe include a rating for each of those 3 sections so basically for each company you can fill in 3 sections of your experiences with them and rate each of the sections between 1 and 5 (very bad to very good).

I think if someone would make something like that it would become a lot easier for people to find solid information about possible seed box hosts.

I went with vectoral services for my seedbox. the speeds are great and the server seems to be working out just fine. That said, they are not the place for a newbie. They offer zero support other than giving you a user name and password.
I got in and was completely lost. had it not been for a nice person I met in the forums my box would still be idle. Someone took pity on me and set up the whole thing. He can now use the server all he wants as he is now my system administrator. heh.
I just hope I can get it to start seeding here on torrentbytes.

used hosting ie once and was shocked by 12-14MB speeds just about everytime i started. But it had reliability issues so switched to ovh.

keyweb regularly get raided apparantly so if you do use one of their machines - make sure it's encrypted.

Hello,

I have had root servers in the past with windows web 2003 installed but am strapped for cash and can't afford circa £40 per month.

I am thinking about getting a seedbox from a site that pre-installs the software ready to go eg:

br-hosting.com or santrex.net. (any others?)

What I'm not sure is wether to go with torrentflux or utorrent? Anyone got suggestions why one is better or worse than the other?

Also I want to upload files to the seedbox and create a torrent from them to seed. Can I browse the web to upload files to a tracker through a seedbox webui?

I ask as I can not create the torrent file on my pc and upload it to the seedbox as the tracker I want to upload to does not allow different ip addresses and also the files i want to upload will be on the seedbox and not on my home pc.

I hope this makes sense and look forward to any suggestions.

Cheers

Grumpygit...

Using the cheapest OVH dedicated kimsufi (£24 inc vat a month) you can easily get your head around ubuntu desktop.
You can use a number of programs to connect to it like you would with the windows servers, ie remote desktop. From here you can evidently use firefox to browse any site you wish.
Advise using utorrent over flux any day of the week, as tflux uses way more resources and on a cheap server you don't want to waste them and ofc you can use the webui negating the need to be logged into the server all the time.

I'm not sure about those sites you mentioned but i assume they are shared servers, which could mean speeds could suffer due to other customers on the same setup.
EDIT: No idea about routing with the other two either, and no matter what private site you use you can almost guarantee a reasonable amount of OVH peers
EDIT2: just looked at santrex dedicated and it seems they are reselling OVH kimsufi plans @ almost double the price.
If you need help setting up a server you can pm me if you want.

Thanks for that reply,

After spending a few hours googling away I was either going with OVH or hosting-ie. I'm gonna get a Kimsufi as you suggest.

To be honest I've never used Linux and was worried it needed an I.T. technitian to navigate it.

Having looked at their website it "looks" like a windows desktop that as you can say you can you can use firefox on which suprises me (shouldn't do but noob to Linux).

Is it realy as simple as connecting with remote dektop connection (RDP) in windows and installing utorrent and using it almost like a windows desktop? Or if not RDP something else?

I'm just worried about getting the server and finding out it is hard to use.

Is Utorrent Ubuntu compatible and do I instal it like you would in windows (double click the .exe) or do I need some remote commands through the remote software (the bit that would scare me lol).

Thanks again

Edit: Just read on OVH that Ubuntu doesn't have FTP connection but rather SSH? How do you get the files from the server with Ubuntu on it to your home PC?

Linux the way to go, debian or ubuntu, you can use the desktop if you wish just like RDP in windows, or command line which is so easy just spend a bit of time with it, loads of tutorials about).

Install rtorrent and proftpd/sftp on the box and your basically set. You can use a program called WinSCP to connect to the box also and upload/download via SSH.

Didnt know much about linux myself 2 months back and had issues with my ovh box under windows so just had to sit down with it for a few days and it was so worth it!

Any problems, need help/advice just message me can add to msn.

You will get some good speeds on here and there with ovh think they had a offer on recently for a box was £24.99 ex

I have a server.lu box right now (Luxemburg unmereted, 16 100mbits sharing a gigabit)

I have debian stable setup with xfce 4, irssi, utorrent, wine, wget, iceweasle(firefox) and a file manager installed (oh and firestarter too)... plus a ftp server and vncserver and probably a few other goodies I left out...

so far I've set it up to snatch torrent files via irc for a few torrentsites... (not this one atm)

I plan to add more sites irc and/or rss in the future

For anyone running utorrent in linux if your wine is old but not too old you need to update to the latest version to keep fast transfering users from being d/c from you

Oh and it was a bitch to setup... a complete fucking tooth pulling experience (I ussually run windows)

And yes linux servers do crash compeltly.. cause mine did after I did a simple one line apt-get install ... followed by running the program (millions of popup errors)

edit: about ssh... you can use winscp to download via ssh

alternatively you can install a ftp server... which isn't too hard

I for the life of me can't get vnc to tunnel through ssh

just get a linux guy to configure it, it will take 2mins and everything will just works as long as the server bill is paid

where can we get a cheap hosting ie box with windows or ovh box in SLA preconfigured?

#1020776 by unknown[159952] at 2008-10-21 15:36:53 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Try and find a reseller onsite - or go with someone like seedhost.eu (expect to pay almost double tho).
Or you could ask someone nicely

My friend is looking for a seedbox and the forum webhosttalk seems to be closed down or something, so maybe I can get some advice here from..

What his looking for is:

Bandwidth: Unlimited
minCPU: Dualcore
minSTORAGE: 500-1tb
price: as low as possible

And it's going to be ordered from sweden, since ovh is lazy enough and dont let us buy

#1020843 by Alibaba86 (Power User) at 2008-10-21 16:42:46 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

if you still wondering if you should go for hosting-ie or ovh... ovh all the way
hosting-ie sucks big time!
