1and1.com I got a dedicated there and they have a deal with the vps's. $1 set up and first 3 months free. So in other words you pay $1 and have a box for 3 months till you pay anything. It does require a 12 month subscription though to get that deal.

#937222 by unknown[120138] at 2008-04-29 04:04:16 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I've heard 10TB... but I've also heard no faster than 5mbit and capped at 20mbit... and I've heard soooo many horror storries about support

routing is bad.. decent to other servers though (and ofcourse within france)

I could also tell my experiences from Dedimove. I had server from them a while back and was able to push 4-5Tb a month, speeds were about 6-8mb/sec but at "peak times" speeds were capped to 20mbit (2mb/sec). At that time they didn't even tell anywhere what time does this "peak time" occur. So I think they were able to cap your speed when ever they wanted.

I also had horrible times with their routing. I seeded the releases from the server but wanted to download them to my own computer via ftp... I had 10mbit connection at home and max speed I got from Dedimove to my home was around 50-100kb/sec (I should have gotten 1mb/sec). I asked my ISP (I live in Finland by the way) what to do and they said it is routing issue and I contacted to Dedimove support but never got any answer from them.

Just my thoughts about Dedimove. But I believe there are many satisfied customers with good routing lines to the Dedimove and France.

By the way anyone have a thing or two to say about Hosting-IE servers. Mainly interested to know some speeds and routings to .uk and .nl?

ok, thanks

Hosting-ie...... well speed is ok to those country's, to Scandinavia (Sweden and Norway) we did not get more than 10mb.(but that said we could get multiply ones to that)

But their support sucks big time! They answer when they want, they want extra for everything,if you want a reboot it takes up to 2 days before they get their finger out.
and dont be folled of Max de Loi chief turkey he is a prick

when that is said

Any one know of any good colocation in Europe ? 2U server

has anyone had any experience with ovh.co.uk cause i am looking at there servers now and they seem incredible for the price but i am a bit dubious as to whether the speeds are any good or not because of the price

oh and @ CMason  - don't expect to run more than say ~5 torrents at the same time with a kimsufi

Why not?
You could easy run 20+ with a kimsufi + rtorrent, a Celeron D ain't that bad.

#941215 by unknown[238822] at 2008-05-09 06:35:52 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Oh yeah flux, well I've used atleast 50+ torrents on torrentflux with bittornado, on a Celeron 2.2GHz and 768Mb of ram

debian d utorrent with wine is just perfect. I dont get rtorrent to work good on my server. If i leech at 10MB/s it takes all my memory.

That did not happend with utorrent

wow, that looks awesome, and I live on the list!

But I've never got a server before, is it easy to set it up and get a client working on it?
Also, does OVH know what you have running on the server?

Edit: Wait nevermind, they don;t do paypal, I don't think I want to give over my credit card details...

I can recomend OVH, great speeds from them. Took a while to get the server, but other than that, excellent
