are you looking for .eu or .us?

A lot of places charge about 12euro or 20 US a month for windows (about double what the linsence costs them)... leaseweb doesn't charge too much extra (at cost) when you get a express windows server but at 50 euro for 500gb it's a bit outa your price range (70 euro /100 US for 2000gb)

This is one of the best bangs for your buck around that can achieve decent speeds in my mind http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=631664 # Celeron 1.8 Ghz # 512 Ram # 80 GB hard drive
100mbit with windows web for 70 US a month (10USD for windows web) and 1500gb transphere... they are in florida (maybee not the best for this site since most userbase is .eu)

anyways for .eu / unmetered options (in my mind unmetered isn't good for torrenting on a site like torrentbytes... because you can't keep it going as fast as it can go all the time... better for public trackers)

https://www.vectoral.info/ (germany) This one is quite popular with torrenters on private sites... gotta wait for the right box to become available though 1000gigs for 50 US... another 18 us for windows!


Anyways I guess my point is with your budget 8-10USD more for windows web is probably a big expense

http://www.giga-international.com/ isn't too bad either... good value if you prepay and reduce setup cost

edit: yes windows home has remote desktop it should be at the bottom of your accessories list

edit2: another option would be to get someone who knows linux to set your server up for you with torrentflux... once it's setup it's very easy to use, it's a web-based interface... then you'd save windows fees and maybee go for the 1Tb vectoral box

^ Aren't BestOfData still out of stock? I had a server with them a while ago for about 3 months. A lot of people seem to complain about them but i thought they were great. Especially for the cheap price.

Currently using Vectoral now and highly recommend them :wub:

just wondering.. i have a vectoral box and i've yet to see my full 10mB up/down on it

I got it with windows 2003 web.. could that be the issue? coz i remember in the summers sharing a vectoral box of a friend of mine and it had linux and we consistenlty hit 10mB both ways..

Dont know why you have that problem. I max my box out a lot here and on another tracker. What torrent client and which server do you have?

Utorrent 1.7.2 and Fluorescein server mate..

I've DL/ULed at TB, and 3-4 other sites.. but didnt touch 10mB either way =/

Go to "Disk Cache" options in uTorrent and manually increase the cache size.

any one else had problems with lw about selling at one price then giving you  a higher one once you get it? i ordered two boxes at the same time got one at the promised price then the other was 20.00 more. now they want to charge 69 ea when they were both supposed to be 59.00 when i ordered them.

plus the one box crashed twiced and took days to get them to reload it. first time was a hdd failure the second the os up and crapped out for no reason. or at least thats what they told me.
i'm switching over to vectorial because of all the problems and getting a better box for a whole lot less.

Quite suprised that the subject of security hasn't been brought up in this thread. None of these boxes are anonymous and you're paying a company for a server for the purpose of downloading and distrobuting warez.


It is the same hosting companies that are being recomended time and time again, so from the sounds of things users all across the world pay for these servers to use as seed boxes. Shouldn't there be red flags all over the place?


Doesn't it bother anyone that you're giving your putting your name and credit information on a server that will be physically hosting illegal content???

hey guys i have a couple of questions about seedboxes..

i dont D/L much from here atm cos i have a 20gb cap on my internet downloads and uploads count to that so i have to ration it out and uploading back just kills me.

Anyways with seedboxes u download this file and seed it from a remote location right?
once you've downloaded it to that box and start seeding it do u then download it from the box to your computer? if so how?

I dont suppose it would be possible but is there anyway that you can get the files you download on the seedbox to your home computer without it being counted as a download on your home line?

Well if you can do what i do!

I download it to my box then when i get to school i download it from my box to my PC!

If you cont go to school then just go to you library (they tend to have faster interent then you can get at home!) and just download it to your laptop if you have one!

If not then there is not much you can do m8!

It actually isn't that far fetched, some ISP's don't track, or have the ability to track ssh tunneling.  In that case, you can get around the bandwidth cap.

You can always use this site http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/ to get a fake id. This site is also useful for not paying VAT in Leaseweb(if you state that you are from the US, you dont pay VAT).

Still, you give your credit card, or paypal account, or something which can be used to track you down.

paypal lets you pay through your bank account, but its only instant if you support it with your creditcard

but you can transphere the funds ahead of time of when you'll need them
