hi

quick question:

my brother has a xbox360 and live in jersey, i will be going over to him in a few weeks, he is looking for Planet Earth 1080p over

see if i extract each ep, and just put the .mkv file on a dvd as a data disc, will he still be able to play them on his xbox?

or is there something else i have to do?

cheers

Yeah you have to change container from mkv to mp4 and make sure video and audio codec is supported by the xbox. Preferably h264 L4.1 video and AAC audio.

Nah, using megui should make it very simple.

or just download it in the wmv format.

not really useful as the number of mkv compared to wav movies on torrent trackers are hugely different, at least on the ones I use.

wmv =  http://www.torrentbytes.net/browse.php?cat=28

x.264 (MKV) = http://www.torrentbytes.net/browse.php?cat=5

on another popular tracker we have 32 HD wmv movies and 2316 HD x264 (MKV) movies.

on Demonoid you have about 70 HD wmv torrents and about 2000 HD x264 torrents.

I am not on HD bits and I expect that has more HD wmv torrents than the trackers I use but I bet it has a vast number of x264 compared to wmv.

I think its safe to say the most widely used format and easiest to get hold of is x264.

Stick with the x264 fellas

I had bad expierences with megui, never seemed to work for me (from mkv->mp4). I used GOTSent. very easy, takes a while (but it takes a while to remux with every program) but it works 100%

I have a spare xbox360 arcade which is jtaggable.  I got it for free from a cell phone deal and I had to go through a big pile of consoles before finding an older model.  It's a Falcon model with a Liteon dvdrom, manufacture date November 2008.

Is there a Nand-X kit which has the least amount of soldering to do?
There isn't a solderless Nand-X kit around, is there?

I have 2 xbox 360s, one is flashed but RROD and a newer one wich isn't flashed and works perfectly. My question is: can I take the drive from the flashed one and swap it with the new drive so I can play burned games on the new console?

Thanks in advance

No you can't the drive keys are unique to each 360 and when it doesn't match it will not read.

Yes that's what I assumed he already know but if you know how to spoof you might as well hack the non hacked drive to begin with.

simply replacing the thermal paste will most likely not help at all however when repairing it the way your supposed to you should definitely put new and better quality thermal paste on.

I am not an expert in repairing these and someone else can probably advise you in more detail but I am fairly sure that your going to have to do more than just replace the thermal paste.

Good luck.

as dave says, its not just a case of removing the paste and adding more, if you purchase the kit mentioned by dave, it will likely come with instructions.

you need to remove the paste, and either overheat the chips using a heatgun(only for the brave people) or do it by moving the fans out of the way of the gpu, and force it to overheat...then let it all cool down(20 mins)... and DO NOT move it in this time...once cool turn everything back on. boot it up if it loads switch it off tighten your bolts, but not too much coz that can cause an error too.

usually this works for a while, but the problem always comes back in the end.

good luck.

Motherboard  -  Jasper
Dvd Drive    -  Phillips -LiteOn   DG-16D2S-09C    fw-93450C
HDD          -  120Gb
fan --  Delta - Black and white/silver label

Need help flashing the above xbox I have opened and installed Lt switch in dvd drive and have connected to dvd control board to pc with a sata cable and am using the xbox to power the drive.

When i power on the system with the switch set to normal i get the 1st 3rd and 4th front panel light lit red with the centre light green and no dashboard appearing onscreen.(No light on actual Lt switch)

When i power on the system with the switch set to R/W the system boots into the dashboard but i cannot control the dvd tray And I get a red light on  the Lt switch.

With the switch in both positions jungleflasher 0.1.74beta cannot find my drive and it has me completely stumped.

Can somebody please point us in the right direction.

How can i transfer "DLC" content that i downloaded from here to the 360 hdd? I've found some tutorials but they are kinda old:-/ I have a flashed Lite-on v.1.51 with 25gb hdd space.

your xbox needs to be jtagged, it can only be done on certain dash versions, google will help you.

search for xbox360 jtag tutorial, its not a job just anybody can do to any xbox. it takes soldering skills and patience, and the correct version dash or lower, chances are if you played any recent games and updated the dash you cant jtag because MS patched the jtag exploit hack with the new dash's which will ask to install upon playing a new game

Hmm maybe I'm lucky then, haven't updated my dashboard since last year;-)
I'm not so good with the whole xbox modding stuff thou, I didn't even flash my xbox myself.
