Don't hold your breath, warduke. The possibility for updated consoles to be able to run the JTAG hack exists, but the probabilities of another exploitable hole are very low. What I've heard from the hackers at the heart of the homebrew scene is, "It's not gonna happen."

Even if I can't, at least I can repair the HD install option.  Which makes me happy.

I'd only want the XBReboot for the DLC and Arcade games.  (I miss playing Magic: The Gathering)

Just a quick question, I bought myself a cheap used 360 to replace my banned one,
now the new I bought has Samsung drive, and the old one has Hitachi drive...

I was thinking (since I planned on never going online with the new one) that could I somehow spoof the hitachi from my old 360 to the new console, in a way that it would have Hitachi 1.51 firmware on it?
Or does it still need samsung firmware even though it would be hitachi drive... Im confused

Reason I ask is because Hitachi 1.51 is the only firmware out there that loads EVERYTHING, so no need to constantly keep updating it to run new Wave games...

quick question without having to read through this huge post.

Ive just bought my nephew a pre modded Xbox. Its brand new, got 1.6 firmware and a "Wave 4 Activation Disk"

Can he play this online or not as of yet?

You flash the drive with the firmware it's intended, so if you have a Hitachi drive you use the Hitachi firmware. You can use the old Hitachi drive in your new xbox and spoof it (trick it it's a samsung) as the Samsung drive, but then you still use the Hitachi firmware.

But that isn't really necessary since you can use the old Xtreme 5.3 on the Samsung drive and load all Wave games. That's what I did on mine when I decided to never go online again

@DayVe3000: as far as I know, he shouldn't go online with it... at least not until a new firmware is released. And even then, if he plays burned games with it now offline, there's still a chance it gets banned when he logs in. (Some say the xbox saves the info on games and then sends it to MS when it goes online)

I am fairly sure unless its a fairly old manufacture date there all jaspers now, and they can still red ring but are less likely than previous boards.

I am going to grab an arcade soon to replace my dead box and I fully expect a jasper board.

W-edit: While I'm here, I might as well ask this too: From what I've gathered, MS are detecting flashed console's left and right. I think I've got 1.6 on mine. If I go on Live with it, I will be banned. I guess there's a chance I'm already banned, but is there anyway to find that out without trying to go on Live?

@wandel no its still not ok for live with 1.61 for liteon's it just add's wave 4 and 5 support.
no more activate.iso but the risks on live are as great as they were in november

Seeing as how it's banned, I might as well upgrade to a unstealthed 1.6 or 1.61, to more easily play the newer games, right?
I assume I'll still get new achievement points local(yes, I am a bit of an achievement whore). Is there anyway of getting them uploaded to Live, like maybe move the harddrive to a not banned console?

as far as i know mate your gamer tag gets corrupted and you are no longer able to install games to hard drive but I think you can still recover your gamertag from the hdd on an unbanned 360(not sure)

and yea if you are banned, 1.61 would be the way to go for now until the mythical LT is released (never)

Can't wait for IX LT to play online anymore so I'll stay offline with 1.61 so I can atleast play Wave 4-5 games.

You could write protect your NAND and then go online to check if your console is banned.
Only requires two soldering points and it doesn't have to be on the leg of the NAND as an alternative point is located on the back side of the motherboard. That way your NAND won't get crippled.

It's a bit more tricky to uncripple after the NAND has received it's ban instructions as you have to dump the NAND an locate the latest secdata area which contains the instructions to corrupt and disable HDD install. But it's certainly doable.

I've uncrippled mine and installed a simple switch to write protect the NAND if needed.

You can move the hard drive back and forth since you haven't connected to Live since the ban and your doesn't doesn't "know" it's banned. I've been doing that for my box and it's worked just fine.

I actually believe my 360 has been banned. But if moving the harddrive works, would that mean it's not? So that would be a way of finding out if it is banned or not.
