I had mine "professionally" flashed. When it broke down, I took it back and had it de-flashed, sent it to MS and got a brand new one back.

I asked the guy who flashed mine if would it ever break down, if there was any need for me to unflash it or so and he told me it was not needed because they aren't gonna test for that shit anyways, can someone confirm if this is true? (He also told me it was very hard for them to see if it was actually flashed, although that can't be true, I mean, isn't it just to pop in a burnt game? .)

I've indeed too heard of people shipping their flashed xbox and getting it fixed via the RMA without problems. And as you say yourself it's not that difficult for M$ to check the firmware but the question is if they do it.

I guess if you're unlucky you could try your luck. They'll probably return it to you as it is if they check the firmware and you'll have to pay for shipping.

I've sent in multiple Xboxes with flashed drives before. I've always just had the drives replaced. My guess is that they run a checksum on the drive to see if the firmware is correct and should be working as intended. If not, they replace the drive. However, this is all speculation.

WHAT the fuck!

this xbox scene is weird.. my gf and i won an xbox premium this week with 3 original games with it, and this guy online is offering me 220 euros for it, which is 30 less than an elite is, an elite with 120gb drive!!

where's the catch, does this elite have more than 60gb space (which i remember it being) or is it in any way better?

Just sell it

Besides you can build your own hd for the 360. As of now 120GB is the largest but as soon as the MW2 and Forza 3 bundles start to show up the 250GB signed bin will be available.

Gamertag bans are now in effect for playing a title prior to release date.  Many people playing Borderland, which is officially released on the 20th, are now banned.

#1193847 by NexerDonor (Power User) at 2009-10-17 15:34:19 (3 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Forza 3 bans too...

They're also preparing to disable profiles and savegames on "unauthorized Xbox 360 Storage Devices"
Whether this means 3. party memory cards AND homemade harddisks remains too be seen

So I recently got hold of a X360 elite for £100 brand new, been reading around about getting it flashed.

If I'm correct the latest firmware is 1.6 although something called Wave 4 is out which prevents backups being played??? If so should I hold out for a firmware upgrade as I will be paying £20 for it to be done and I wouldn't want to pay twice.

Any clarification on these firmwares and what exactly Wave 4 is would be appreciated.

wait for a new firmware

wave 4 only effects the latest releases(and not all new releases)

but if you are going to pay someone to do it, wait a couple weekes

Thanks for the advice, I've opened up the it's a Lite-On drive with July 09 manufacturer date.

Are these easy to flash?

if it has 83850c firmware its simple, you dont need a probe for it

use the latest jungle flasher and follow the pdf file.

Yeah unfortunately the next NXE update will make profiles and savegames on memory cards other than M$ like the Datel unreadable.

It's not yet clear if cloned hard drives will be included too. There has been some rumours from M$ souces that only the memory units will be targeted but nothing is certain.

We'll know more as the NXE preview program (Facebook Tweeter) containing the "memory ban" is rolled out to users

right, im about to get me the 360, completely new to the console market, the latest console I owned was n64 back in the days. Anyways, to the question, I'm about to buy a 360 with a projector. Thing is that I have no freaking idea what port the 360 should be connected too. Does one just plug it via the hdmi cable or what port is one required to have on the projector in order to play?

People taking part in the preview program report that their home-made hard drives still work

WAVE 4

Hi i have read a few things and i am wondering if any 1 can confirm what im thinking and have read my 360 is lite on 1.51)

If you have a Samsung, BenQ or Lite-On 74850c drive you could choose to downgrade to iXtreme 1.51 to boot wave4 games. iXtreme 1.51 did not check thesize of the video partition so it will boot any wave.

IF you are on iXtreme 1.51, then ANY wave will boot fine, including Wave4 however you must be EXTRA careful as you are not protected against corrupt or incorrect video partitions. This is one of the many reasons to always use abgx360. If a game is fully verified, playing it on iXtreme 1.51 is just as safe as playing it on iXtreme 1.6 - this includes Wave4 games.

abgx360 v1.0.1 (latest as of time of writing) does not recognise a "wave 4" image and will report a POSSIBLE corrupt/bad PFI/Video partition, however the program is actually still completely compatible with Wave 4 games. Once a Wave4 title is verified, abgx360 will still download the .ini from the database and fully check out the image. If the image matches and the game is verified, then it has also passed the stealth checks and thus it is as safe to play as any wave3 or wave2 game.

so i dont need to mess with anything just buissness as usual download unrar verify burn?

Abgx360 wrote:

Looks like we were wrong in assuming that iXtreme v1.51 was fully compatible with 4th Wave PFI/Video. Turns out that only Hitachi iXtreme v1.51 will boot 4th Wave backups, and BenQ/LiteOn/Samsung iXtreme v1.51 will NOT boot 4th Wave. It would have been fully compatible if only the Video data had changed but not with the change in PFI (capacity). So currently the only safe option for booting 4th Wave backups on a BenQ/LiteOn/Samsung drive is to use iXtreme v1.6 and the one shot boot disc.

Looks like you will need Hitachi 1.51 (or 1.6 with disc) to be able to actually boot Wave 4 games.
