Good stuff, Mojo. Glad to hear you're getting your box back. It sucked each time I had to send my box in and I wanted to play every day. It was the worst when my box RRoD over Christmas break. Major suckage.

Yep. Gotta love it. My brother had the same reaction when he got his box back after I *forced* him to send in his 360--which wasn't really RRoD--before I flashed it. It was an original Elite and had a BenQ drive that shook the whole room--and that's no exaggeration. He's very happy with it now.

Do you see any improvements in performance? Both my brother and I saw significant increases in our FPS and less pop-in in higher-intensity games like GTAIV, especially when it was raining. I attributed that to the better cooling and chipsets, and perhaps the new drive, but I can't really be sure atm.

So, i jsut downloaded the Tales of Vesperia release by Strange here on TB, But whenever i have burnt it and put it in my 360 (flased and all) it says "Play DVD" and it wont work as it should.

Burning process and everything all went fine, so what is the problem.
Could it be that it doesnt work on old flashed firmware, and i have to update?

If so, how do i update my firmware, have looked for a tutorial on how-to, but i can't find any solid information on how to update the firmware.

It's a Wave 3 game, so it sounds like you need a firmware update.

Before you can flash your drive, you need to know what model it is. Take a look at this and tell me what drive type you have.

Updating the firmware isn't very difficult. If it's your first time, it'll probably take an hour at most. I've flashed many drives, and it takes me about 15-20 minutes from the moment I get the 360 till when I close up the case for the last time.

Well, it is a BenQ version thingie, that comes with the elite version.

You can go at the flashing several ways, and the most convenient for noobs tends to be JungleFlasher. However, if you feel at home in DOS, I'd recommend DOSFlash instead. You can get everything you need from Xbins. (Easy Xbins download)

This is a pretty good JF tutorial, although a bit outdated, so don't use the DL links. *edit* ROCKmyJOCKz posted this other tutorial in a different thread. That's much newer and more complete, addressing the requirements for flashing each different drive. If anything in that tutorial doesn't make sense, I can probably answer your questions.

Make sure you understand the process backward and forward before attempting the flash. It'll do a lot to keep you sane. Also, you MUST have an nForce or Via chipset to work... or so I've been told numerous times. You might have luck with other chipsets, but I've never tried myself.

Sounds like a lot of hassle to play a game...
Will have to try updating the firmware some other time, because now i am on a lan.

great, almost done call of juares and I get nasty graphical problems then after a reboot I get the E74 error code.

bahhhhhhhh !!!

I fucking swear I am getting sick of replacing this fucking console

so what's the best (most up to date ?) method of fixing it these days ?

Even if I only get a couple of months out of it with a "fix" that will be better than a poke in the eye lol

Can you not send it into Microsoft? They repair E74s for free now. They (finally) admitted that E74 and the RRoD are related, so they're covered under the extended warranty.

its modded and I also just pulled the whole warranty sticker off when I modded it.

I can fairly easily (within a short space of time) get a new 360 and get it modded again and play the usual gambling game with 360 hardware, don't really mind that with the money I saved on games but its still damn annoying when I am very sure its not due to my own misuse.

been reading up and I am going to try the newest executer kit and do the heatgun fix as its the e74 error, if it works and I even just get a couple of weeks out of it that would be fine, was enjoying a few games at the moment damn it ! lol

I would send it back as it is if I felt I had a hope in hells chance of getting it fixed for free, but I doubt it with it not having a warranty sticker at all lol

i used x clamp fix theirs 3 methods, i used the last one. Im 100% sure now its a design flaw. Mine never gave an error msg, it went from artifacts/video glitches -> that + audio glitches -> no video and sound and eventually rrod. I got around to fixing it abt 2 weeks ago and as soon as i replaced the xclamp ms uses to secure in the heatsinks no more rrod.

afew washers and bolts shouldnt cost more than $5

Does anyone know if a new Xbox 360 sku is imminent? I've been keeping an eye out for good console + game bundles over the past few weeks and noticed that stores (in the UK) seem to be running out of stock and not replacing it, as if they're waiting for something new to turn up.

Supply shortage or new release?

There are presumed holiday bundles, but I can't recall for certain what I've heard. There are rumours about an increased 360 HDD size with the release of downloadable 360 games, but nothing has, as of yet, been confirmed.

Does anybody know how to change the DVD region of the xbox 360? I've read this is possible but all the tutorials I find seem too complex and it's like they start in the middle or something because they just list a bunch of stuff needed to change but I have no idea how to reach there soo.. :E Thanks in advance.

@Sithius:

As far as I know, modifying the 360's DVD drive's region is not possible. If it is, it would only be possible through installation of a modchip.

@lostmojo:

I'd have to guess it's either your router/modem or ISP. Do you get an error message when you disconnect? or does it just disconnect? If you're running torrents with more connections than your router/modem can handle, that'll definitely restart your router/modem and disconnect your Xbox from live. However, with the little information I have at present, I can't really provide you with a justified explanation.

Saythewords: http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep … xnbxII.php

It's possible, I just don't get how the hell I'm supposed to do what they're talking about. "All I did towards this was to reverse the plaintext KV signature to figure out how to modify and resign the KV contents." Oh now I get it of course! .. er.. Does anybody know how to get into that keyvault in the first place? Guessing it has to be hooked up to the PC or something?

#1166117 by unknown[24504] at 2009-07-31 12:47:42 (3 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I can start off by asking if you have NXE dashboard? If you do then forget it.

#1166120 by Sithius900 (User) at 2009-07-31 12:54:51 (3 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

That's the newest dashboard right? Well I haven't actually bought my 360 yet, thought I'd look into this first so I guess no, unless it comes with the newest xboxes :/

EDIT: Anyways, seems I need either Linux or an infectus chip to get my cpu key in order to be able to decrypt the keyvault anyways so screw it

well theres no torrents running while im on live, my internet doest disconnect just my connection to live, its really strange as i can sign back in immediately.

Hmm. Have you tried switching out your ethernet cable/port on your router? That could be the issue. Other than that, I can't say. The ethernet port on your 360 could be going bad. That's always a possibility.
