I don't even know how to boot into DOS

It's not that hard. Just use a USB flash drive. All you have to do is make it a bootable DOS disk. (You can use iPrep for that.) After making the disk bootable, you just need to copy Dosflash and LiteOn-Erase to the flash drive. Once you grab your firmware off of your LiteOn, boot back into Windows and make your new firmware. Then copy that to the flash drive, boot back off of the USB disk and run LiteOn-Erase, then Dosflash and flash the drive.

I'll see if I can find a straight-up guide for you. The Xbox-Scene forums are down atm, so I'll have to look a little harder.

I would very much appreciate that

Can't thank you enough for your help.

I have also read that Liteon drives are very hard to brick so I am hoping to be pretty safe.

It's no problem at all. :irule: :giggle:

It seems I won't be able to find one on the net, so I'll have to write my own. I'm flashing a buddy's LiteOn in a couple-few hours actually--quite convenient timing--so I'll document the entire process as I go along and post the finalized tutorial when I'm done.

:construction:

You don't have a Connectivity Kit (CK3 or the like), correct? so you'll be using your 360 to power your drive during the process?

Superb

No I don't have any of that kit so I guess I will use the 360 itself to power the drive

Serve me up a fresh helping of crow.

It seems I have managed to misunderstand some important parts of key retrieval and may have completely embarrassed myself in the process. With the release of iXtreme 1.51, there was added to JungleFlasher the ability to extract information from a previously flashed LiteOn (key and all) via SATA, instead of through the serial port--as is required for an un-flashed drive. This feature was not--to the best of my knowledge--ported to Dosflash or any equivalent. This makes it impossible to extract the key and needed data in DOS without a connectivity kit.

If you're going to read your DVD key via SATA, you're going to need access to x86 Windows and JungleFlasher; and in that case, you might as well flash in Windows anyway, using either JungleFlasher or Dosflash32. If you don't have access to another PC, repartitioning a drive and installing x86 Windows is your best bet for success.

(You can always try to use Vista x64 and install PortIO32 after disabling device driver signing, but I offer no guarantees. It seems to be quite hit-and-miss with people. It has not worked for me.)

I have scoured the Internet, but have found nothing to the contrary. I'm sorry to bring such bad news. A thousand apologies for my oversight.

:sorry:

Hey, no problem ;-)

I guess it seems my only remaining option is to install an X86 version of XP, which in itself is really no great biggie.

I need to buy another drive anyway as I am runnin g out of starage space so I may aswell install X86 XP on it, flash my drive and then erase it and use it as storage.

This will give me the time to read through the Tutorials on how to perfom it so when the time comes hopefully I will ahve a bit more knowledge and not be so worried !

Thanks for all your help ;-)

just updated a friends liteon with 1.5 to 1.6

it was very simple earwig, the liteon update section of the junglasher user guide pdf was easy to understand and everything worked with only one small problem.

The 1.6 liteon iextreme repack needs to have the word repack removed from the file name in order for junglflasher to pick it up in the junglfasher firmware folder otherwise junglfasher will say it cant find the  new firmware.

you may use a 360 mod pack with the repacked liteon firmware with the file name corrected already but if you don't and you get a firmware not found when jungleflasher tried to find the new firmware that is what it will probably be.

only hitch I had but thought I would mention it just in case, it could be a head scratcher for some

If you lock the LiteOn up (which is pretty common and I did on my brother's 360), it's an easy unlock; but you'll need to boot into DOS and use LiteOn-Erase and DOSflash.

It's incredibly hard to brick a LiteOn. I might as well have tried, I made so many dumb mistakes on my first couple. Don't worry about bricking it.

My launch release xbox 360 has red ringed! Thankfully the lovely people at Microsoft will fix it for free!

That's good news, man. You'll get back a better performing box, as well as a spectacular (and quiet!) DVD-ROM.

You mean they will actually repair a modded console? I thought they never did.

If it doesn't look like it's tampered with, it'll get repaired. I've known many people who've had their modded consoles repaired (I actually got mine repaired after modding it), so it happens. You just need to have a legitimate and intact warranty sticker.

I'm new to all this. I've just read somewhere that all releases by Allstars are flagged? Is that true?

Old news...some were banned for playing the game before release date. The Allstar WaW version was a bad kreon rip but only for those running pre ixtreme 1.4

Just be sure to run your ISO through ABGX GUI before playing

They do as long as you have a working emulator on partition 2 of your xbox 360 harddrive

Meaning yes - If you have a HDD connected :-P

I have this 37 inch plasma TV downstairs
I was thinking of connecting my 360 to it however this TV is quite old
with VGA only no HDMI. The problem is it is wall mounted and already have a VGA cable dongle so I could connect my laptop to it.
My question is then is there any way to connect my 360 to the dongle instead of taking it down and connect the VGA. the dongle is VGA male type.
I do have a multiple component switcher on the side aswell not sure how the quality goes vs VGA though.
Any ideas would help!

NVM I found out about VGA Female to Female
