Ok just a quick question about region locked games that i have downloaded. Is there a program to run the game thru to make it region free? I just wondered because if all the rippers take a region locked game and then make it region free how do they do it, just asking because there is a few games i want to download but i can only find them in ntsc format and i need them in either pal or RF thanks

@keers:

I'm not aware of any tool to make a game region free. What region a game is or is not locked to is up to the publisher/distributor.

Has anybody tried flashing a drive via Virtual PC? I'm running all x64 OSes on my rig, so JungleFlasher doesn't work in desktop. I installed Virtual PC/XP Mode in W7 and portio32 drivers install fine. I just haven't been able to test the flashing yet. I may take my box apart tonight and test it out...

Theres no such program, if a game is region locked (many NTCS-J for example) theres no way to change the region.

Hey, I got a question concerning 360 HD.
I'm new to HD, I just got my first HDTV, but it's only a 720p, thats all my 360 is as well. 720p downloaded movies look great playing through Media Center on the 360... But I'm wondering, how would a 1080p movie play for me? Should I not waste my time?

It would just be downscaled. I don't think it would make much of a difference in terms of quality, if any at all. I wouldn't bother with it if you don't have a 1080P display to use.

1.6 has support for SSv2 and AP2.5, etc. Nothing important now, but may be in the future.

From the NFO:

Quote:

Features
--------

-Strict Wave 3 compliance! hybrid (modified disks) will not boot!

-Strict drive speed compliance - 12x only for game discs!

-Support for SS V2!

-Integrated 0800 for game dumping including SS v2!

-Full support for all known game exceptions! eg ddr etc!

-One shot boot mode! - allows a one off boot of gamedisc without -stealth/partition checks (will still use stealth), use activate.iso disk to activate each time!

-Support for easy drive key/version info cmd, same as liteon!

-Strict stealth/wave checking, one shot boot mode will boot wave(x)!

More Info
---------

Strict Wave 3 compliance means wave 3 games will only boot if they have correct PFI/DMI/SS and timestamp for wave 3

Strict drive speed compliance means games will only boot if drive is set for the initial speed of 12x, any modification of this make games fail to boot

SS v2 suports multiple timing samples for challenges type 5 and 7 , stroing them in the SS. This is a pre-requiste for SS v3 which has support for the so called AP2.5 check. Since this has never been used or may never be used by MS we will adopt a wait and see approach and continue to monitor for its usage.

With drive in Windows mode (Tray half open on powerup) 0800 mode is activated allowing easy dumping of game disc including SS v2. In this mode the drive is also able to output drive key, fw version and drive type by using a simple custom inquiry command.

Game exceptions are integrated in the fw for games that do not comply with the strict wave checks but are legitimate. These are Dance Dance Revolution Universe, Stoked, Ping 17 disk, afro samurai

One shot boot mode allows you to boot a Wave X or non stealth game by using the activate.iso disk as a flag. Just insert the activate disc and the next disc inserted will boot without any strict checks. This will still utilise full stealth if available. As soon as that disc is booted the flag is cleared, and you will have to re-insert the activate disk again to enable one shot boot. As always use with caution.

I upgraded, but there's no really big reason to upgrade if you don't want to rip your games with your 360 drive.

I have searched, but maybe not hard enough, so sorry if it's been answered but I am currently banned from live, not really that bothered about that, but the new games coming out like UFC, SBK09 and Xmen wolverine I have just burnt xmen, as I have always done so in the past, but this is the newest game i have had for a while now and it's just says "Play DVD" and doesn't work.
My question is, do I have to upgrade my firmware to 1.6? not only that but how can I tell what version I have in there already? Btw I didn't flash my own drive but am confident I could do it if neeed to, thats why I don't know what version it is. I just don't want to go through the pain of doing so if it's not needed.

Thanks for any info:-/

you can patch the games to work on lower firmwares, but I am not sure what that app is called.

if your unsure of what version firmware you have I don't think that's a problem really, get the latest version of jungleflasher and follow the instructions for your drive, before you flash the firmware the program does give you the info regarding the current firmware you have.

This I am certain does not really matter tho, follow the jungleflasher instructions, place the 1.6 firmware in the firmware folder on jungleflasher and that app will do pretty much all the work.

Unless your 360 was modded ages ago my bet is it will be 1.3 or 1.4 firmware you have, but again I am sure the old firmwares does not really affect how you flash the drive in jungleflasher.

You could grab the jungleflasher instructions pdf and read through it, you can find out what drive you have without taking your 360 apart.

Thx for that, am now reading the jungleflasher pdf and it sounds to easy, will give it a shot

forgot to mention

there is also a 360 modification disk that is apparently very good (it just boots with your pc like an OS would usually do when your formatting or whatever) but I have not tested this myself but it may be worth looking into, jungleflasher works fine for me though so I never tried the mod disk..

I'm own PS3(what a waste) and finaly decided to buy Xbox 360.
Which one do you recommend : ELITE, PRO or Arcade for best results and quality ?

#1135781 by unknown[242393] at 2009-05-25 06:39:39 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

The advantage to the Elite atm is that you can get Halo 3/Fable with the Xbox, plus is has a 120GB HDD as compared to the 60GB HDD of the Pro. The extra storage space is useful if you download a lot of content from the Marketplace or install your games to the hard drive. The big difference with aesthetics is that the Elite is black (or red, as in the RE5 bundle), but nothing else is much different.

The Resident Evil 5 Elite is guaranteed to be a Jasper (the newest hardware version), so it'll be cooler and quieter (hopefully) than previous versions.

I don't recommend the Arcade if you're doing any serious gaming on the 360.

Thanks, NEWEGG got just  HALO+FABLE and LOGO Indiana+Kung Fu Panda bundles but RESIDENT EVIL, i guess BB or Gamespot  got it.

P.S. Resident Evil bundle console is RED color, maybe i'll wait another BLACK JASPER.

What hardware is needed for this jungle flasher?

I have 1.5 in my liteon but didn't do it myself and have no idea or any way of getting the original drive key :-(

Do i need it?

you can extract the key pretty easily with jungle flasher if you want to be extra safe ask the guy who hacked yours for the key.
Otherwise dump your current F/W and it will have your key in it. and spoof 1.6 with your key and flash it.
I bought the PCI sata card which was a hassle apparently you needed to get a custom firmware for the PCI SATA card and I installed it with auto update on vista.
You will need 32 bit(safest/easiest) vista/xp not tried on win7 however should be the same as vista
and that SATA card or onboard SATA and obviously a SATA cable.
And then get the jungle flasher PDF guide read it thoroughly.

So I don't actually need anymore hardware for this ?

I can use the SATA on my P5Q PRO ?

For example I can unplug my DVDWriter connected via SATA and plug my 360 drive into it ?

I might actually look into doing this myself if that's the case. Getting the key from the guy who flashed it is a no go as he was a one off seller on Ebay :weep:

I have an old intel board that works perfectly, this is an old p4 board so I expect the vast majority of newer motherboard sata chipsets will be fine..

Its easy as 1 2 3

Ok, so I downloaded JungleFlasher 1.6 and also have Firmware 1.6.

A few questions now. .

1. Is there a link to a guide for flashing a Liteon that has previously been flashed ?

2. Since it's already been flashed I guess I don't need to do any soldering I have read about ?

3. And alstly all the apps seem to say Win32. . .  I have Vista64. . . Problems ?

#1136736 by unknown[9089] at 2009-05-27 12:36:05 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

In jungleflasher when you load it up you should see in blue text a click able link saying user guide.

this is the pdf with full instructions, this pdf also has upgrade instructions from old firmwares etc etc, everything you need to know should be in there, don't think I needed any other info than in the pdf when I have flashed or updated my own and my friends drives.

I am running vista 32 so I don't know if these apps can be run in 64, maybe compatibility mode ?

You could look into the 360 modification boot disk, this method of flashing is apparently quite easy (all ya need to know is your sata port number or something like that) and this boot disk boots from disk when you start your pc so the type of OS your using is irrelevant with this method.

Using 64bit Vista has been unsuccessful for me as PortIO32 (which JF uses for everything) does not have a x64 equivalent. Your best bet is to use iPrep/Dosflash/similar.

:-(

I am really not that savvy with all this stuff. Reason I asked about JungleFlasher is that it seems all you have to do is plug in the drive and let it do everything, nice and easy. . . :-)

Looks like I may give this a miss :-(

Don't suppose anyone lives in Northants area of the U.K that could do it for me :giggle:

#1136830 by unknown[242393] at 2009-05-27 16:04:58 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Dosflash/iPrep is really, really, really simple. I like it better than JungleFlasher myself. As long as you get a quality tutorial, you're good to go.

What you can do is this: Disable device driver signing in Vista so you can run/install PortIO32 (which probably won't work, but it will allow you to run JungleFlasher), boot into DOS and use Dosflash to read your LiteOn firmware, take that saved firmware into Windows and throw it into JF and make the new firmware, then go back to DOS and use LiteOn-Erase to erase the drive, then Dosflash to write the modified firmware.

That might look complicated, but it takes no more than 20 minutes... and that's if you're going really slowly.
