Depends whether he soldered or used a probe...

Since it's already flashed u can reflashit without extra tools just a via card u hook it up on the pc and u can flash it in no time their is a iso file around which will let u do that without any work, simply burn the iso boot for the cd flash ur drive

If u can't find it pm me

excellent mate thxxx for clearing that up, it made me a bit worried.
Yep I just ordered it from ebay it will be here tomorrow,
so as long as I follow that jungle PDF guide I should be fine right?
I'll tell you how it goes tomorrow.

i have redit my previous post.

And yes don't be afraid, even if u do something wrong it's simple to erase a bad flashed liteon dvd... just keep the bin files safe

i want to flash mine with the 1.51firmware but i'm to lazy to open up the xbox for a work that takes almost 5minutes i will just wait until the 1.6

So this 360 Modification Disc 1.51 on xbins VS Windows style which would you prefer to do?

ok got the iso file now :-D
can't wait to try this

one more question.
they didn't mention about the "half way disk tray powering method"
should I ignore it and follow the prompts?

Yeah if recall u need to do this it's little tricky to find the exact spot but nothing impossible i searched for some videos on youtube i saw how much u need to press it inside and everything went fine

edit: NO you don't need to have the tray half open to flash just flashed mine

haha brilliant!
Now just for the Royal mail to show up :fish:

ok got it however do you have liteon urself? cuz when I choose liteon I had to do that half way method which I failed to do and couldnt extract key
I'm fiddling around on windows now but can't seem to detect it, this was on vista 64
gonna try vista 32 soon.

ok minor/big problem
I get this message whenever I try to press write/erase etc

This image has been resized, click here to view the full-sized image.

OKKKKK foock that lol
bought VIA chipset for nothing
gave me 3 hours of cold sweat seriously
turns out that VIA card is lagging everything on windows which turns out that message problem
I took the via card out and tried intel chipset on my ASUS board
worked out  fine!

annoying really isnt it, for years a via has been the best chipset to have, now its about the worst! ive now switched my flash machine to an ich7 based board

did u install the via drivers the card came with ? if u did that ... u fucked up and u talk about extracting keys and stuff ... but u said that u already have the dummy.bin file . remyxx87 pm me ur msn to help you

edit : yes i have a liteon / i don't know if the tools are vista friendly but let's see...

ye its fine now its all done Thank you!
Ye I extracted the dummy etc before it all fecked up, the Lite on drive went cold on me
didnt even eject nor anything but it was on vendor mode whenever I tried to connect it
so I just took out the VIA chipset and connect the sata cable to ICH7-8 board on my Server/Downbox
and it worked fortunetaly.

saves me around 20 quid now each time I wanna update it

Tested HAWX what a brilliant game

I didn't have any luck in the networking forum, so I'll paste it here and see what happens.

I have networked my laptop and netbook through WMP11 to stream videos to either of two xbox360's that I have set up in different rooms.  The system works as it is supposed to, I can access either computer through either xbox no problem.  The hitch is that when the system is idle (xbox off and wmp11 not running) it causes both computers to lag badly and has my cpu's running at over 90%.  Task manager shows me that this is caused by two latent processes called wmpnetwork.exe & wmpnscfg.exe.   When I turn them off the cpu's drop to 5% or so and everything is fine, but they come back within a minute.

A quick google found that this is a common problem with several solutions:

The forum at cnet says this is from a bad avi file link but I removed all the files from the library and it did not help.

This guy's link  idea is to shut off sharing all together, which I did and it stops the problem, but I can no longer stream video which is unacceptable.

So WTF?  It's so nice to just drop video into the library and not have to put them on a usb drive or even worse to use media center, which I dont even have on the netbook and is to picky about file types, but   it does not seem I can do so without lagging my computers down.

Any ideas or apps that anyone knows of that can get me streaming again?

Anyone heard if it's possible to flash a 360 drive using a Mac Pro and Boot Camp?

I tried that, it's pretty complex to use by comparison (to many different folders to sort through while wmp only goes to my video/pics/music)  Maybe there are settings I can tweak.  I'll give it a try again.

you add the folders you wish to view, simple.

ok i have i bricked 59dj drive on my xbox and have managed to get another drive pcb its either a 78 or 79 not sure tho. is there a way i can tell  the differnce between the two as i dont want to try and flash the wrong firmware on to the wrong pcb. Any help would be most helpfull.

I no the 59dj drive is bricked because the green led just keeps flashing when connected to 360, i have swaped the pcbs and this solves the problem but i need to no which pcb it is so i can flash correct firmware to chip on pcb.....

once the pcb is in mode b you will know as it will show what rom version the drive is in toolbox or JF, also make sure you have your original drive key without it you can't play anything

If my Xbox is already modded and flashed how would I go about updating it? Would I have to repeat every step or is there an easier way?

if its an hitachi drive you have to restore original (stock) firmware before reflashing with updated firmware. As for all other drives i think you can just flash over hacked firmware but not 100% sure on that.

for liteOn you only need to retrieve the key and spoofed into the new firmware and then update it

Yeah, I have a liteon drive, but I've looked on a couple of sites and googled but I haven't found anything about updating. Do you know a site?

a few links and helpful comments etc and it was successful

I have a friend who has decided to take on the task of flashing his liteon drive.

he wont buy any hardware and I believe he thinks he can do it with just some conductive paint.

He is not very technicaly minded and I am confident he cant do it but he insists and wants a tutorial, so what is the simplest (if any) method of flashing a liteon drive ?.

I have tried finding a tutorial that does not require the probe or whateaver but cant find one anywhere, my advice to him is that he should just pay a local modder (whe we have used in the past) to do it but he wants to save some cash.

I suspect that its going to end in tears

any help guys ? if I can help my buddy not bust his 360 drive I would feel better inside lol

#1108939 by unknown[88565] at 2009-03-26 14:02:40 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

unless your modding a few its not really worth investing into a kit , you can make your own but it would still require soldering etc.

to do the lite-on easiest way out is a ck3 pro with a probe.

but i personally just use the ck3 pro and then bridge the point on the drive with a soldering iron makes it that little much easier.

to be honest your right dave, your better finding a local modder unless you have maybe 2 or 3 360's to do then it's not really worth it spending £35-45 on the full kit.Making the homemade kits isnt too hard just that you have to have experience with it.

whereas you could just pay someone £20-30 to do it for you and have none of the hiccups or trouble

heres a guide on making your own http://beta.ivancover.com/wiki/index.ph … xtract_Key

#1108962 by unknown[9089] at 2009-03-26 14:42:53 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

cheers ando, I wont try a liteon let alone my m8 who isnt realy very technicaly minded in these types of things, gonna advise him to just pay the guy we usualy use.

have you heard about this conductive paint thing ?

I dont like the idea of splashing conductive paint on shit lol

#1108965 by unknown[88565] at 2009-03-26 14:47:28 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

ye it does work but you'd still need the rest of the kit

basically the paint can be used to bridge the r707 point, which is needed to recover your key.bin etc

but you can just use the probe for this, you just stick it in the hole and wait for the correct colour light etc.
