Earwig, have you tried playing a dvd while connected to live ?

an optional media update perhaps ?

Although I doubt that because I have a banned xbox with the downloaded full nxe dash with avatars and I just tested a retail dvd of Little Voice and it worked perfectly.

The 360 is actually a shockingly bad dvd player anyway or at least it was (possibly got better with software updates I dunno) but it was not even worth bothering with as a dvd player when it first came out, picture quality was being beaten by Ł30 cheapo dvd players.

but yeah, retail dvd`s play fine on my machine so they should on yours.

Have you got any retail discs you can try in there Wiggy? Have you tweaked the pots at any point? How old's the box? All the usual stuff, ya know

Bloody staff are always the worst for giving no info about their problem :giggle:

Edit: Oh yeah, and in answer to your question I'm lead to believe the 360 drives don't like -Rs full stop

Sorry for the lack of info ;-)

Box is a new one, just before the LiteOn drives. It has HDMI output although I'm not 100% sure about it's age.

Not tried any retail discs in it, I usually play MKV from the PC so it's not really to much of a problem, it's just that I I had a disc lying around that I tried and it did not work. All my discs have always been -R so I guess maybe none of them work anyway :-(

I'm in spain right now so can't really try anything further till I get back.

Going out to buy Xbox 360 this weekend. I need a few great replies.
1.) What is the best way to mod the system (firmware or mod chip); names, tutorials, sites?
2.) Once modded, can I download games and burn them to play on the modded system; how?
3.) does it matter what system I purchase; gaming, pro, elite?

Hi, im burning dvds for a friend of mine so he can play them on his xbox(how i met your mother) when i tested it to see if it works i had to download some file. He does not have xbox live, anyway i can download the update so he can play them?

Edit: After some research, i cant download the codex. But can i bring his hard drive over to my place, log onto my xbox live account and download it? Then remove my account for his hard drive. Would that work?

Hi, I got Toshiba Samsung MS25 flashed with iXtreme 1.4 but I want to flash it with 1.5 instead. The problem is that iPrep v7 is not supported anymore (can't load the new firmware) and I can't get iPrep v8 to find my drive. Anyone else had this problem?

And do I really need 1.5? I haven't updated to NXE yet, because I'm afraid of using 1.4 with it.

edit: After MTK VENDOR FAIL I press Y, reboots the drive, and the process stalls at "Status: 0x51". Anyone know what's wrong?

If you dont play online it should not affect you, I use NXE with firmware 1.4 on a BenQ drive, I just plugged it in long enough to download the NXE then I booted it off the net again, as I dont play online I havent bothered to update the firmware yet.

Hello everybody, so.. ive upgraded to the new dashboard which lets you install games onto your hdd and i could now use a bigger one... so my question is.. how do i replace the 20gb 2.5" hdd ive got now into a 120gb or possibly larger, ive found tutorials on how to dismember the actual hdd case but not how to backup my saves/make the new hdd work ;-)

any help provided is much appreciated :hmmm:

Dang... I did that ages ago. You have to use Xplorer360 to access the files and HDDHackr to flash the drive's firmware. Google will help you find the latest program versions and the specific files you need, along with the instructions. It's pretty simple: connect drive, boot into DOS, run HDDHackr with commands. Fin.

Well, I sent my Xbox into Microsoft to have it repaired and got back a Lite-On. Looks like I'll be flashing it tomorrow when my parts come in. I'm not exactly disappointed, seeing as C4Eva says it reads better than any other drive. Plus I actually get full frames on GTA IV now instead of 10-15 while driving in the rain. Good trade, I think. :-)

Well i play online more than i play offline i have the iextream 1.4 firmware, i cant realy be assed with updating to 1.5 and so far so good

I've got an Xbox360 lite-on, already modded it, Ixtreme 1.5. The thing I'm wondering about is if the game is stealth patched what are the odds of getting caught playing live? And, that new dashboard, where can I get that? How do I get the games from the dvd's onto the HDD?

the odds are very low imo

to install games to the hard drive just update your xbox.

you can download the update from some public trackers but I would reccomend you just hook the 360 up to the internet (this is needed espeicaly if you wish to use the 360 for xvids/divx.

Download the latest version of the nxe dashboard from whateaver place you can find it (sure mininova has it) and just pop the contents into the root of a usb device and pop it into your 360.

or if you have a friend with an updated 360 I think you can hook his hard drive up to your 360 and startit up and it will update your system (that used to work a while back but not sure if it still does but worth a try if no other option)..

Is it safe to play online with Iextreme 1.5 with legit game disk? I do understand the risk for backuped disks however not sure with retail ones.

Ok got my 360 now
I just recently tried the game Ninja Blade not gonna be released here in EU in a long time
I've deleted everything associated with Ninja Blade on my game library however I cannt seem to delete it
from my profile where it says "latest Games" Is it still safe to login to xbox live?

The Elite just just dropped to Ł199, which makes the price difference between it and the Premium seem a bit more reasonable for what you're getting.

From what I understand, only the Resident Evil special edition has a jasper board at the moment, but it must be imminent for the others. Who knows, maybe the price cut is to make way for a new top-end 360.
