Not gonna make any difference.

I'm running my backups on a "homemade" 120GB :-)

Would it not help with games that are not loading textures quickly enough ? I had this problem with GTAIV

Do you have any links for making a homemade drive as I am actually quite interested in installing games to a hard disc

Lite-On iXtreme coming soon....
>> A iXtreme firmware is soon to be released for the Xbox360's LiteOn DG-16D2S drive.

Release is scheduled for the day before Christmas. More details will be available upon release. In preparation of the release, it is recommended that you purchase some of the available hardware listed below to assist you in the process of extracting the key. If you already possess and are capable of using a RS232 to TTL converter (serial) then you do not need to purchase any of the hardware listed below. If you have already dumped your key, no other modifications will be necessary.

Both Xecuter and Maximus offer Solderless (with the usage of the "Spear" or "Probe") methods to extract your key.
If you already own a Xecuter Connectivity Kit v3, a tutorial on how to extract the key is listed here
If you already own a Maximus 360 Xtractor, the manual may be viewed here for usage.

I too saw that talk on Xbox-Scene a few days ago, Dave. I was really excited. I may just have to go out and get me a second (maybe third as well?) 360 now that they're flashable.

I was mainly referring to the whole banning issue ;-)

Sure some games will load significantly faster and as you say textures won't pop up too late. Stuttering during heavy texture loading will also be drastically reduced

A 120GB DIY is pretty easy to make.

All you need is a 120GB WD SATA "BEVS" hard drive as the Hddhckr program, which you use to modify the harddisk, only works with this drive. You'll also need a 120GB hddss.bin which can be found on pretty much any public tracker.

Backing up stuff on your current HDD to your new WD disk is a bit more tricky but not impossible :-)

This is a great place to start

I've got the classic no video problem, I think, which sucks because I just got home for Christmas Break.

Suggestions?

Actually, I have the "Lots of white dots floating around the screen" problem. Basically, my GPU is fried. Shit.

Hey guys, i had a question.. My motherboard doesn't have an IDE connection, but i bought this device that will allow you to connect IDE devices to SATA motherboards.

http://www.gamebaz.com/?a=i&i=5502\

the model of the device is HW-629a rev 2.1 IDE (host) to SATA (driver)

will my computer be able to recognize the BENQ DVD drive for flashing purposes?

Xbox 360 DVD drives are SATA

#1061189 by unknown[9089] at 2008-12-17 23:18:14 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

yes, definitely sata you can also just power it from the 360 while you have it hooked up to your pc, you can get molex adapter tho for the power if you want to entirely remove the drive from the 360.

Hi.. Noob here..
I just got the Xbox360 PRO edition.. And I'm wondering.. Can I just download the games here from TB (say naruto broken bond) and burn it to a dvd and it will play on the xbox?
or do I have to do some modding?

#1062380 by unknown[9089] at 2008-12-19 20:38:21 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

you do need to do a dvd drive firmware mod in order to play backups.

Xbox scene has tutorials and stuff like that, this thread is littered with links and there are loads of youtube tutorials too.

Most people can do it themselves with there own pc or you could pay someone locally to do it if you want, usually ppl everywhere modding 360`s

Hey guys, I have some trouble with my xbox.

So recently I tried to flash it so I can play backups, I opened it but didn't actually flash it for some reason (didn't want to mess my xbox up I guess)...
So I put it back together plugged in all my cables back and got the RRoD when I tried to start the xbox. I shut it down again, waited 5 minutes and started it again and it worked like before.
Now the thing is that I have this RRoD again, and I can't do anything about it... I tried searching the internet but they all talk about a heat problem, and I know that in my case it just isn't it...

Any ideas ?
The warranty is expired so can't send it back...

#1062925 by Aterlatus (VIP) at 2008-12-21 00:43:08 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Has the three year warranty for RRoD expired too?

Is it the three-quarter red ring or another?

#1063066 by KhaS86 (Power User) at 2008-12-21 11:29:47 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I don't know if it is expired but I took off the "Microsoft" sticker when I opened the case...

And yes, it is the three-quarter ring. The upper right quadrant isn't blinking.

you could just buy those stickers on ebay google for it , just carefully re open it without damaging the plastic put such sticker on again and you could just send it back you will get an new one for sure. the red ring has longer warranty.

How are the LiteOn drives coming along ?

Are they not supposed to be made public today or tomorrow ?

I will be getting one of these and might even give it a go myself when it comes to the flashing. Will be my first machine that I will attempt

EarEdit:Also wanted to ask about DVD playback as my current arcade console does not appear to want to play discs that I insert. Music seems fine but DVD's it comes up as disc not recognised. Is it the same as the original Xbox where you need the remote to be able to watch DVD's ?

Yeah the music is on CD and the DVD's are regular DVD-r

Does the + and - make a difference ? You need +R for the games, is it the same for regular burnt movies to ?
