My xbox360 was banned quite awhile ago and because i have started to get a nice little income. Im looking at replacing it. The best way is to buy a brand new xbox? or can i replace the part(guess the mobo) they used to ban my current xbox? Thanks.

If i have to buy a new xbox, should i just get the cheap one(without the hard drive) and put my current one in their if possible? Thanks

The 360 itself is banned not your ip and not your gamertag.  So you can take your harddrive and connect it to a 360 that isn't banned and you can play online again.

That's what I did...
Some time ago, my Premium got banned.
So I bought a new Arcade pack, installed my old hard-drive, hacked the xbox with iXtreme and transfered my Gamertag.
Now everything is fine for months.

My old (banned) Xbox was also sent to MS for repair (rrod), it was banned while I sent it away, and I received the same Xbox back, still banned, but repaired (no more RRODs).

The Xboxes they make since ~may-2008, are not hackable, so you should think about what it exactly is what you want.
I think the arcade that I bought was the last version that could be hacked.
Though recently (couple days ago?) they DID find a way to make the newer versions play backups. However, it involves soldering, ROM dumping and swapping the drive with another unit, so it's not really an option for everyone to get started with this.

sure that they are now there are key recovery tools for the liteon drives but it just means that you need to put in another drive and spoof it to the liteon

Ofcourse I mean the key recovery process with that.
BTW, I know it's not a couple days ago, that was my mistake.

I am almost totally sure they only ban the xbox, your hard drive and your xbox live account will be fine on other consoles.

yep, it seams like its an attempt by Microsoft and sony to crush the Wii, it must piss Microsoft and sony off allot that the Wii is absolutely dominating the console market with all there consoles, even the hand-held market is dominated hugely by Nintendo hehe

if the controller is as good as it sounds and if I can play at least equally as fun games on the ps3 or 360 that I currently play on my wii then I do think allot of people will ditch there wii.

Although Nintendo aint going to lose its exclusives and that's what the hardcore gamer has a Wii for I am sure.

I think the best way for Microsoft and Sony to introduce motion controllers is via party games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, since they already have a critical mass behind them. If they just introduce this thing and hope that developers are just going to make games that use it, they'll never get anywhere with it because it's too much of an expensive risk.

#1008120 by Aterlatus (VIP) at 2008-09-26 23:27:26 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Have a search around - for elites at least MS were giving away free cables and software that does the transfer for you. Picked one up myself even though I didn't have another box to transfer from :p

no flashed liteon but if you can get another drive via somewhere, you can get your key and spoof your new drive to pretend to be a liteon

I haven't been keeping up to date with the recent Xbox 360 dashboard updates.

Anyone know if it can play the MKVs available on TB? Or do we still have to re-encode and re-mux the audio into an MP4? So you only get 2.1, not 5.1?

I have a problem flashing my drive. Can anyone help me?

Specs:

- Toshiba Samsung MS25
- VIA VT6421 SATA Controller

I've tried flashing with:

- iPrep 101 v007.3 Beta
- firmtool 1.2
- Samsung.iXtreme.1.4.rar

edit: btw, I've followed all availible tutorials on the spot, but I always get the same error, that my drive can't be back up'ed or flashed :/

The dashboard upgrade will allow games to be played from HDD? Will this work if the xbox is flashed/modded and you only transfer the game to hdd? Pretty nice if thats possible.
E: I mean downloaded games from here for example.

About to flash my 360, will probably pay for it to get it done right.

Anyway, I have a Samsung SH-S183A DVD-R, anyone tried burning releases with that? Working?

The 360 was never really hacked only bypassed via the dvd drive so you'll still have to burn the game to disc before transferring it to the HDD and you'll also most likely have to keep the burned disc in the drive when playing.

you do have to have the disk in the drive in order to play from hard drive
