Hi all i got a 360 first time
my drive is a
Philips Lite-on
model DG-16D2S

are there any sites about news of hacking it so whe can flash it ?
I'm new in xbox stuff

what are the inportant sites
And what file formats can 360 play ? HD wmv mov ?

If i log on my 360 with IM ( msn ) i got my old nickname
It doesen't change the name liek the one i got on my pc ?? can't change nicknamen in 360
Is this a bug ??

no your nickname with msn is stored from pc to pc if you've never signed in before on a device it uses your first name or the last logged in name i believe that's what i've noticed when i sign in on my laptop and then my pc

well i just wanted to thank you guys whoever talked me into buying an xbox 360 over a ps3, been enjoying it and my free 1 month xbox live account so far, and i would've been enjoying it as well even if i was paying for the games.

just a question, what if i want to transfer my gaming progress on another live account?! is that possible somehow?!

Also, isn't there a way so that i can play mkv files directly from my computer onto the Xbox "something like tversity converting the movie on the fly while it is being played"?! i hate the idea of converting my MKVs to WMVs so that i am able to watch it, takes a lot of time per file and i got lots of them.

transfering gamerscores im not sure about, but i have heard people talking about it though.

and the streaming issue, afaik the 360 has very little codecs, so to be able to watch mkv files, ti has to have codecs the 360 supports, otherwise you will have to stream them through orb remote and similar, not the media center.

its not very good (I have heard) but I think you can mod the xfps to be much better, involves a bit of soldering I think.

I watch WWE and stuff.
I put the file on usb but some time the 360 doesen't play the file ( xvid)
I can play ecw series but not raw or smackdown all xvid ?? looks like 360 got problems with xvids
just wanna downl some series and dump them on usb stick and play ...

And like to play hd movies but most time thay doen't say what format it is ogm or avi wmv.
How big can the file be for 360 to play ? not mor then 4gb ?? :s

Ok so I ahve now got me a flashed 360 with HDMI output.

Now I want to connect Via HDMI but also want to use the Optical output.

Problem ios that from what I can see I need to use the component HD cable kit that has the Optical output on it. But. . .  I don't want that !

I want to use the HDMI cable that I have to get 1080P to my screen, so how do I get the optical out ?

Please don't tell me that I need to buy the component set also just to be able to use the optical output ? :-(

Even the cheapest motherboards have an optical out these days so why does M$ still not put one on it's console ?

Even if you buy the cable, you can't plug it in at the same time as the HDMI (the component cable connector covers the HDMI port too). I think you'll have to get hack happy to pull that one off mate. Check out xbox-scene forums for inspiration and more detailed suggestions :S

Maybe I should go with the component output instead then ? I'm sure my TV takes 1080P over it but I just wanted the HDMI :-(

if its any help I have tried both hdmi and component on the 360, my conclusion was that I couldn't tell any difference at all, my tv is only 720p tho and I don't know if that makes a difference.

have you seen this ?

So unless you got a Full-HD TV to run 1080p i dont see a reason to get the HDMI version of the 360.

Edit: Btw, i am going to either flash/chip my 360, so my question to you guys is, which chip is the best?
I have the Hitachi drive.

My TV supports 1080P so I really wanted to use HDMI :yes:

Also all new 360's now come with HDMI anyway

Yeah I was looking at that, only problem I see is that I only have the standard AV cable with picture and left/right outputs. The cable in the picture appears to be the HD componet cable ?

anyone with Iextreme confirm if it works ok with a modded console ?

edit: its just a small update in preparation for the big one that's coming in fall, working fine here with Iextreme 1.4..

alright i'm having problem detecting what my 360 drive is i was on 360 mods and followed the guide there and it said that i either have a BenQ/ Phillips/ LiteON i
i know that the phillips liteon is unflashable at the moment but how do i know if i have a liteon or a benq?
