now to another half-retarded question

if i flash my xbox360 to a firmware that works with downloaded games, and i play my downloaded games for a while. Then i want to go on live.

i flash my drive back to regular firmware, is it then safe to go on live if i reflashed it back to stock?

Yes and ban also means warranty void, I called microsoft about my RRoD xbox and they said I was banned so therefore I have void my warranty, anyway I fixed it myself for like $20.

I am also curious if this works as i'm considering to flash my xbox just to play a bunch of offline games then when done with them put original bin back in and wondering if it traces that it has been changed before and ban me or not ?

If you flash it back to stock, you cant play copied games...so you wont get banned.  Even if its flashed, you can play original discs with no risks (as of now).

Microsoft will notice if you go on to live with different firmwares. if you have it flashed and go online, dont flash it again, thats a 100% loss.

I heard that wasnt true and that people just came up with  that when some of the newer bannings took place.

Not true, I went online with my xbox when it wasn't flashed and then went online again when I flashed it and instant ban.

Not true! atm MS have NO way of detecting hacked FW - this may change in the future but at the moment they can't tell

thats because your disks weren't Stealth or were bad rips

i have been online with

original FW
4.1, 4.2
5.1, 5.2
1.1 and now on 1.4

all my disks are Stealthed i have never been banned

you didn't read what i put

i got my xbox almost 2 years ago and went online with the original FW then i decided to start modding it i have been online with

the original FW then i upgraded to the 4.1 and played online with that then 4.2 played online with that then upgraded to 5.1 played online with that again upgraded to 5.2 again played online with that then upgraded to 1.1 played online a few months with that then upgraded to 1.4 and have been using that online for the past few months each time i was online it was a mixture of retial and backup disks that WERE stealthed.

i am on the IRC channel where the guy that MADE the FW uses and everyone on there knows alot more that you think you know and MS have NO CURRENT WAY OF DETECTING MODDED FW,

well i have been playing online with my xbox and completly great the only reason i asked was because i'm thinking of modding it playing some of the huge offline games like forza 2 and assasins creed (just finish their offline modes without ever going online) then re-flash back to original firmware and go back to my original games and enjoy it online again... possible ?

well the guys over at the IRC channel where the FW was developed 1. look at the updates and analyze them to see what they do. They also monitor the information that the 360 is sending out so as far as they know ATM there is no way of detecting modded FW.

also if there was a way of detecting it they would have done it before H3 which will be the biggest selling game ever on the 360

What about GTA4?

I agree with you about firmware, it's hard to see that; "un-stealthed" discs on the other hand are easily detected.

I have a question...
I've been trying to share my media from my desktop to my 360 for some time now.
My computer sees the Xbox just fine, I'm able to see it in Windows Media Player 11 as well as in the network places.
Originally, using a wired connection, every time I'd go to the media page on my Xbox it would just say "Computer", it wouldn't see it.
I DID eventually get it to work intermittently using my wireless card on my PC. About half the time it'd come up (and be very very slow).

Anyways, I'm using a wired connection again because the wireless is too slow for streaming, and thus far the xbox hasn't been able to see it. There's no firewall blocking it, as I have gotten it to work on occasion using the wireless.

Could it be my ethernet port causing the problem? I'm using my motherboard's ethernet port.
The motherboard is MSI P6N SLI. Link

Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated!

No need to flash it back to original.  MS cant detect the firmware, so if you just leave it on you can play retail or burned discs.

Quick question from a X360 newbie.

I'm considering purchasing a X360 elite which has the iXtreme f/w already on it. It's from a pre-modded shop. I'm wondering does MS send out f/w updates to disable the ability to play certain back-ups like on the Wii?

I'm asking this as I have no clue about flashing etc and if I purchase a X360 with the hacked f/w will it be able to play all games in the future and will I never have to update the f/w? I won't be going online.

Thanks in advance.

They do not.

EDIT:  btw, nobody can predict the future...but as of now, they havent.

worst case = banned from live (which also means that you won't be able to receive game updates)
Best case   = MS can't detect modded FW and you can play on live with your backups thus protecting your disks)

even with the last xbox they didn't disable the machine from being able to play games only the ability to play games online

So about these game updates, are they necessary?

They can disable your machine from playing games?

#921946 by unknown[88565] at 2008-03-28 15:34:02 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

they cant disable the console from playing games

they can disable live if your caught but LIVE is same at the moment for flashed consoles until M$ bring in new detection or the hackers find something they didnt pick up on

as for updates if you wanna play a game online and theres a update you need to download the update to be able to play online but offline you dont need to sometimes your prompted with console updates when you insert the disc there fine too

Okay thanks for clearing that up ando2k5. I won't be using LIVE as I will just be banned. I've been surfing a premodded sites and most sell the X360 elite with the flashed f/w but one sells it with the modchip "NME 360 V2" installed. Is there any benefit of having the modchip as it says it is 100% undetectable on live or is flashing the way to go?

#921963 by unknown[88565] at 2008-03-28 15:52:37 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

you'll pay more for a pre-modded system with a chip flashing the 360 is the same as a chip theres no benefit over the flash
