Well, I have had my elite for a day now and I must say that the dvd-drive is extremely loud. I had heard that it was supposed to be loud, but this is almost unbearable.

Do you guys know any firmware/whatever that can slow down the dvd-drive from 12x to say 10x? I read about some trick with updates that you could do before, but apparently microsoft has 'fixed' that now.

All you can do is flash the drive with a hacker firmware, which allows multi-speed. all the way down to 2x

Great, I was going to flash it anyway, so thats a nice bonus.

Well make sure you haven't been online with your current firmware, then you will be banned with your new firmware

theres no actual proof of that the only thing reccomended is to flash without a video cable plugged in as it wont report the firmware change to the cpu

Its not very easy.  Unless you have this, you cant do it.  Just save yourself a bid headache and find a place to download the game you want.  Then burn it to a verbatim dvd+r dl disc.

All my ports will stay live *if* there is a device plugged into them when you shut down the console.

It is nice to charge ipod. :-)

I've seen the question answered a couple of times but i'm a bit confused.

The situation is that i want to buy an Xbox 360 for GTA 4 and generally other console exclusives, i don't even have a TV so i heard you can use a regular PC monitor provided you have a cable from microsoft.

I have a LG Flatron 1780U (17 inch) as far as i know the only supported resolutions are 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and of course it's native 1280x1024.

I've read in this thread that i need a monitor capable of 1280x720, but i've also read other places that the Xbox 360 supports a wide range of different resolutions when using the VGA adapter.

Also is it possible to have a converter for the Audio cables provided in the adapter so they fit a minijack?

Im using 1280x1024 on my 20" as 1600x1200 isn't supported

And yes you can get a converter from 2 female rca to 1 male minijack.

Cool, so no remarks about quality or performance with the adapter running 1280x1024?

Why would it be any performance loss? The vga cable is better than the component.

Just more in terms of horror stories about blurry images, blank monitors and what not, but i'm guessing that is a setup error on their side then.

Thanks for your input though, gonna save me a lot on not needing a half-assed lcd-tv

Luckily my monitor support multiple inputs (DVI and VGA) and can have 2 devices connected and switch between them

The first party VGA cable comes with the top adapter, so you only need the bottom one, just posting the picture for reference.

This one would be the easiest one to use as it's female only, meaning you can connect your headset/speaker set directly without the female-to-female 3.5mm mini jack. Too lazy to find a working link where you can buy it, at least you know what to look for if you got to the store.

Can I buy a Xbox 360 in the US, flash it and play it on my TV here in Sweden without any problems? They have a different tv-system, right?
