I dont think you can do that.

If you want the 360 to do what xbox media centre can on the old xbox then forget about it

I have no doubt tho that once they can run unsigned code on the 360 (most likely when a mod chip comes out) there will be a superb xbox media centre made for it that will proberbly do everything we want pluss more.

You CAN stream xvid material, though your computer will have to trascode it.

Is it possible to flash any dvd drive so i don't need to dismantle my console to rip games? i'm really not keen on pulling my 360 apart again because when i play with electronics things tend to explode. Mine's a pioneer dvr-106d if that helps at all.

Nope, only samsung SH-D162C works with kreon firmware.

if i was to mod my 360, will i still be able to play live with real games?, and what about with  burned ones?

#847976 by unknown[9089] at 2007-10-30 19:21:29 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

you would want to put the latest Iextreme firmware on and use stealhed pre patched backups, pretty much all the games u will find on this and other trackers that have 360 games will be stealthed and pre patched, so you will most likely just have to burn the iso`s

you can still use retail games on live with no problems but even though the Iextreme firmware is workign fine online now does not make it a gaurantee that it will work after the next big dash update

Anybody know if there are any issues with playing PAL games on an NTSC system with XBL?

if there is a benq drive firmware then I think yes, gimme a sec I will check

if I recall correctly the elite`s have the new benq drive in, could be mistaken tho

edit: It seams after a quick check that you can get elite`s with hitachi drives in as well as benq.

but even if you get a benq it seams like you should be ok

Thanks to all the beta testers, everyone involved for without their effort this would not have been possible. Schrtom for Dosflash. Caster420 for firmtool. Keep up the good work everyone.

Note: The version is 1.1 due to internal changes, there was no public 1.0.
Dosflash: The only way to read and flash a Benq drive is with DosFlash(info) 1.3. There is a support thread here to help with users experiencing problems. It is recommended to try the dos16 version first. It ONLY supports VIA and NFORCE sata chipsets. When using a VIA card, please be sure to disable both your IDE and/or SATA chipsets as they usually interfere with dosflash.

Thanks for the info :-)

I am checking up on the Elite now as HDMI appears to be not all that important. I can't find any concrete evidence but it appears that the Sound on the Elite is HDMI only ? In which case it's no good to me as I only have coax or optical for sound. I only needed HDMI for the 1080P picture, but 1080I would be good enough to compromise if it meant losing the sound :-(

#848535 by unknown[9089] at 2007-10-31 23:54:43 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

that sounds crazy, they have to have optical or coaxil digital at least

how would people without hdmi on there recievers be able to get dolby digital ? seams crazy to me hehe

my new amp (buying in january) has more hdmi ports than my tv but this thing is costing me over £500 :-/

I cant see consumers being happy with that hehe

edit: not sure if this would work on an elite as he mentions the premium.

worth a look tho maybee

I mean like the 360 Time Shift that was upped here.  It is PAL, but playable on all systems.  Does MS look for these discrepancies when you are on XBL?  Is there any risk of being banned?

thats a good question, my guess would proberbly be no they cant detect it, perhaps when a region free game is either pal or ntsc its just the languages available or something ?

you should ask that question over at the xbox scene forums, they would be able to give you a better answer i think.

if you do find out anywhere other than these forums plz post your findings here because I am curious to know the answer to that myself.

My brother is looking at gettign a 360, and we are talking about chipping it. But how good are Ms at detecting that is been chiped?

at the moment they cant detect the Iextreme firmware wth stealthed backups.

they may never be able to detect it but there is a chance in the future they can, its a bit of a cat and mouse game

What is softmods? And is their a different kind of mod other than soft mod?. Thanks for the reply dave

#848679 by unknown[88565] at 2007-11-01 10:55:34 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

softmod is altering the software on a hardware component, the 360 gets it's dvd drives firmware altered therefore is a softmod. There is a chip based solution but it's really pointless as most games will require extra patching to played on it the chip is called a NME v2 got released a few days ago think it costs like £20-30

also you may want to watch out if you plan buying a elite as your not guaranteed to get a benq

i mod these systems every week all the benq systems ive seen are systems that have been sent back to M$ and they added new motherboard and a new drive the benq then sent back to the customer with no actual notification that they changed the hardware

the elites and premiums at the moment are coming with the hitachi 79 which requires soldering and a passkey in order to flash the drive which can be a big pain if you dont like to solder

good answer ando.

I didnt realise the new hitachi drives were a problem,

You get an adapter to plug into the xbox which has analog rca and optical output.
