Im going to buy a 360 tomorrow!

I was wondering, can i play high res (1024x768 up to 1080i/p) through a PC monitor?

If so do i need any specific cables?

Thanks in advance!

for 1080p you will need a VGA cable (about 40 dollars at your local game store I think) otherwise the component will work fine as long as your monitor has component inputs, otherwise you will definetly need the VGA cable just to get it hooked up to your monitor.

Morning, guys.

I have this problem, the TV doesn't have a slot for the RGB cable (Component HD AV Cable) and thus cannot use HD image.

However the TV does have a DVI slot. The question is: how do I connect the VGA cable to the DVI slot?
The TV itself is Philips 26PF3320.

Would that adapter be suitable?

And does this TV even support this kind of adapter?
I'd put it in the DVI slot and to the VGA side I'd put the VGA cable.

And would the picture still be better than with the Advance Scart cable?

www.xbox-scene.com has lots of tutorials on flashing firmwares. Join the forums and start reading.

I'm all set on the flashing aspect but I'm wondering what burners are you all using?

I just ordered some Verbatim DLs and I have a NEC 3540a.  My 360 has a samsung in it.  I've checked out x-s and I didn't see any major problems with my burner but just making sure I want to see if anyone has had any problems.
Pretty sure I've updated the firmware a little while ago but I don't remember to what.

I was using a NEC - ND2510A burner, and verbatim DLs, until my burner crapped out.

Im now using a Mad Dog MegaSTOR MD-18XTFI burner, and verbatim DLs.

Just burn at a slow speed (2.4x), and youll be fine.

Just curious.
I'm a long term PC gamer, always using keyboard and mouse.

Now that I've gotten myself a XBOX360 I'm having problems aiming and all with the controller.
Have the game Gears of War.

Is there any tips lol for practicing?

Try to fool around with different sensitivity settings for the controler.  Start low and move up on both X & Y axis as you get used to it.

Yah getting more used to it now.
Problem is the sensitivity for long range and close range combat.

Wondering if anyone has tried the Talismoon Xbox 360 Whisper Fan.  Guess I'm a little worried about the ring of death so want to see if anyone has installed it in theirs.  Plus I'll like the blue glow.

A HD LCD panel is really outside my budget.. I've got a 21" Dell CRT monitor.. It only has VGA input.. Now i've read that colours appear washed out on VGA.. how bad is it? Would you suggest getting a xbox 360 if i was to play it on a CRT monitor...

Does anybody have any ideas for a good monitor that can play the xbox in full 1080?

Thanks in advance!

I installed the talismoon fan and it is meant to keep the 360 a lot cooler, so far no problems.

Have just bought:

Monitor Size - 24" Flat Panel LCD
Optimal Preset Resolution - 1920 x 1200
Video Input Connector Type - 15-pin D-sub / DVI-D / S-video / Composite / Component /
Contrast Ratio - 1000 to 1

Will this be suitable for playing the 360 at 1080?

So we have a date for Halo 3 beta now.  Any idea how it'll work with a burned copy of Crackdown?

I see that the download part is sort of there but do you think its safe?

Hello I got a question regarding connecting the 360 to the internet

Today i hooked my modem up beside the xbox and put the ethernet cord directly from the modem into the 360. I then turned the 360 on and clicked xbox live and the little icon just kept spinning and then said it had failed. I then went to the network setting and tested the connection and the MCU is failing to connect or something.
Anyone help me?

Thanks
