question: what's the state of hunters at the moment and what will they bring in 3.1? I have a 70 nightelf hunter just standing around doing fuck all. So are they as good as they where before. I never really looked into the hunterstate after the patch before wotlk and i've been running around with my paladin since..

So can anybody give me some insight on this? is it worth grinding her?

as for PvE, im allways around on top of dps. Not sure what your current specc is on it,but currently surv is the highest DPS output specc.

i will mostly go pve I reckon. Given up on the wow pvp a long time ago. Though, what's the best specc and all? I heard surv was the best tree though it might get nerfed in the upcoming patch? Is bm still the strongest levelingtree? and what's the basic rotations?

edit: after watching http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=105039 im damn tempted to actually taking that good old hunter to 80 =)

This one gives you the most DPS in stand still type of fights.

1/18/52
This one wins over in moving fights, which is most fights.

There is a possiblity of "trap dancing". This basicly means that you run in drop Immo trap on the boss every 30 secs, to force the LnL proc. Personally i dont do it, as i think the extra 50-100 DPS overalll that you get isnt really worth all the hassle.

As for rotations, priority list:
( trinkets and such first )
1. Kill Shot
2. Explosive shot
3. Aimed/Multi-shot
4. Serpent Sting
5. Steady Shot

When Lock And Load procc's : ( copy pasted from EJ )

When Lock and Load procs you can either spam Explosive shot while making sure all dots have ticked before the next is applied (this takes 0.5 secs and can be tracked with a lot of add-ons - even Quartz can be set up to show the debuffstimer), or you weave a special (Aimed/Serpent/Multi) in between the Explosive shots.
Try to not overwrite the last tick of the Explosive shot effect with a new Explosive shot.

I was mostly talking about pvp considerations with regards to nerfs. I can't see hunters ever being bad in pve.

Yeah im not saying that its hard, personally i never saw that much of a increase in DPS while trap dancing ( think at most i got around 150 DPS ) and i dont really like it, so i avoid it.

Also heh, logged in for the fun of it while stoned of my ass, and a guilde whisper that one of the healers need to leave in sarth 3drakes so i had to join. Wow it was hard to stay focused

I tanked heroics today with a hunter in the party. GOD I hate hunters, their TPS is at times higher then mine, and I'm doing like 4500 TPS. On single mobs there's no problem since I can retaunt the mob as soon as the hunter passes me on the aggro list, but like HoS with the mobs swarming in the area, i just can't keep 20 mobs off his ass. I HATE hunters!

Umm directly lower it by them self no, unless we stop shooting.

What he should have been doing, MDing mobs on to you, following the kill order, and FDing when he got close to your threat.
If he wasnt doing that then he is a huntard, if he was doing that you will need to check if you were doing something wrong.

Well, 4,5k TPS on every mob in a group of 4 isn't wrong, especially when i'm pounding the marked one first which is around 5k TPS, it's perfect. I guess he was a huntard then. *sigh*
