Paulexe @kazzakEU here.

I was wondering, the new Inscript porfession..
I guess the only BOP stuff from it is offhand's? Or is something else coming up?
Noticed some "melee offhand books", and well... why?

#1021308 by unknown[277840] at 2008-10-22 07:54:34 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

i don't think (most if any of) the offhands are BoP actually, the "benefit" of inscription is scribe-only shoulder enchants.

So how do warlocks look in WoTLK?

well from what i've seen. They arent usless but not godlike eather! think you gonna be pretty balanced at lvl 80. Though they wont be able theire anticlass, mage as easy as before but the demon tree looks pretty good!

But not as good as the tbc release!

What about mages? How are they coming about?

I've played both. I tend to favour offensive casters so it will probably one of those two if I decide to start again.

#1022737 by unknown[269807] at 2008-10-24 07:38:24 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Every single offhand i have seen is BOP.
And shoulder enchants that are "bop" from inscripting? Hmm. Cant find those on wowhead.

Seen the pretty heavy new "only for enchanter enchant on rings" Think it was like 24 stamina on ONE ring, thats pretty fucked up.
Was either 24 or 12.

Guess its time for levling up that shit for max preformance

From a PvE point of view, I think all classes will do fine. Sometimes a bit better, sometimes worse. But that won't ever be a problem.

From a PvP point of view, it looks terrible.

Warlocks have no means to get out of a sticky situation other than the up-coming circle of whatnot spell... which seems like all it'll do is buy the warlock a bit of time before they're forced to tank in their cloth armour again.

And with the changes to felhunters, warlocks are going to have trouble with mages as well. Lack of pet scaling is still a problem as is high shard consumption of destro locks. Affliction looks somewhat good, but it's possible it will be left behind when new gear is introduced (because of potentially terrible scaling).

Also, warlock glyphs are just stupid when compared to other classes.

Anyway, I'm leveling up my rogue. Quite a bit of fun, and that class has never been a bottom feeder.

You might wanna listen to saamaan here since I think he does have more experience in the warlock area. But indeed pve seems quite fine for every class, hunters topping most charts though as usuall!

Mages at the moment are very strong. The frost and arcane mages will always have a great deal of burst dmg. (5k arcane barrage + instant fireball...) I don't know if they are about to nerf them trees some but hell, mage are a fucking fun class to play!

I have a mage as well and might pick that up if they nerf paladins to hard. At the moment i'm soloing onyxia and killing everyone on sight with my little pally it's great fun!

Heya, have a question which may be slightly oftopic.

Wrath releases on the 13th ( 14th for some places ).

So heres the issue, i have alot of friends back home who play the game and cant get their hands on a copy of it, when TBC hit we got friends abroad to send us CD  Keys but had to wait like a week to download the game itself.

Would there be a copy of the game to download available on TB ?

Just the DVD rip so that people can install the game and use the CD Keyes ( legal and legitimately bought )

- Thnx

I dont think you really need to install anything, patch 3.0 seem to have included everything, i think. Seems liek it anyways seeing as northrend is part of the map, you have northrend achievments in the list and so on.
But if you need a DVD rip, i am sure there will be one to download, if not here then some other place.
If i wouldnt have such a sucky connection i would have been able to fix it for you.

Thinking of cancelling my account now though when they nerfed ret and pallys in general to the ground (again...) So fucking tired of all this shit they put certain classes through (shaman, pallys, hunters ect..)

Think it's quite temporary. Retpalas are more OP then any class ever has been right now (yes, even enh shamans pre-tbc). So I think it's an emergency nerf til 80 and 3.1 hits. Will probably even out. Right now all classes are getting stunlocked and 3-shotted by palas, even seen some blue geared retpalas woop s2/s3 folk straight of the map.

In PVE, me as an enh shaman do about 10-15% less DPS then my friend who is a retpala in Karazhan/ZA. That's not right really. Pre-patch he was ahead of me with about 3-4%, which matches his gear advantage.

thing is though, that the skills where balanced for lvl 80 and not 70. This is what you get when you release something the scrubs and the utterly crap people with no game understanding... A fully RAIDbuffed pally on the beta servers now go oom in 2,31min. Thats right. Got my forum account permabanned, deleted my char and if I ever go to france/us ill give them devs a good slap in the face.

#1025377 by cyXor (Power User) at 2008-10-26 22:04:22 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

How the hell do they go OOM with replenishment etc? Something sure is wrong there. Will be fixed of course, Blizzard has a keen eye.

But yeah, retpalas have been fucked over all along..

But retpalas _still_ were OP, you could easily see that. I've played WoW since US open beta and I easily could tell that something wasn't right. So did Blizzard. If they end up being underpowered that will be fixed for sure, since Blizzards number one focus for WotLK is that _all_ specs should be raid-viable, and they really do care about this alot.

#1025511 by Chill (Power User) at 2008-10-27 01:10:25 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

well. apparently they though our mana and dmg was to high so they nerfed that making the entire class useless not just ret but holy and prot aswell..

Holy can heal for 2-3mins and then oom same with tanking and dps (proven by both guys still playing the beta and the elititjerk and various forums). We got a replacement buff called divine plea (on a cool down ofcourse)  which gives us mana back, but not nearly enough. So well it's just over the top.

Also, the lvl80gear wont have intellect on it like the 70 one, making us stand there with BASE mana is about 4.5-5.5k, that means in a arena match versus a priest or a hunter, 3-4 manaburns and the pally would be out for good. And for crying out loud, if someone mention bubble....

Ret burst on 70 where indeed high, to some op yes. But at lvl 80 in raid pallys did mediocore balanced dps in raids, leaving them somewhere in the middle of the chart, unlike hunters that have been topping the charts since like what middle bc?

what pisses me of the most though, that we had 4months of beta testing. Yes i was in it, since I got a beta invite from a tb member! We all left very valuable info on how to make the pally class fun to play. Then it goes live, people start crying because they lack of a pvptrinket and want to laugh at us while we try to heal ourself up, and bam, 1week on live (despite ghostcrawler and other devs said "ret is fine", "ret should be able to do dps like everyone else", "it's balanced at 80 not 70") they nerf not just ret but the whole freaking class in one patch making us even more useless then we where pre-3.0.

I'm tired of having to wait for something as a replacement, I've waited for that since the burning crusade and even 1.9 patch when the similar thing happened.

I'm gutted, absolutely gutted

lolret

Sorry, had to.

PvE'er btw.. I don't PvP often. And I like 1 retadin in a raid. And I don't agree that the other paladin trees should suffer for how ridiculous ret was in this patch.. but Blizzard will hopefully balance things out a bit.

Hunters has not been on top and when drinking after feign death was removed their dps in raids decreased alot. Fury warrior is the class with highest dps possilbilty only sad thing was they didnt have any aggro reduction. We also have combat rogues since start of season 3 with their crazy armor penetration and the legendary swords. Destruction warlocks since T6 did pack a punch. Random 6k crits with shadow bolt speaks for itself.
Ofc I stoped playing at the start of Season 4 so things might have changed after that.

I wouldn't agree there. And aggro wasn't so much an issue as was the boatload of rage you get with fury in raids and rage-dumping too much with heroic strike.

And hunters can easily be on top. Feigning death decreased dps because it took you out of the fight.. I don't know any hunters with severe mana issues.. not since BWL.

Felhunters have always been gibbed my melee.

But felhunters used to grant the warlock resistance to all schools of magic (through a talent) and had high resistance themselves, so casters couldn't take them down due to lots of resists.

So, back then felhunters could easily shut mages down and were, more or less, immune to magics (not to mention made the warlock somewhat resistant to magics as well).

Now the resistances are gone. Felhunters now give a raid-wide int buff and lost their silence / interrupt ability (as well as the stealth detection buff) in favor of a Shadow Bite ability, that damages an enemy based on the number of DoT spells on the target.

Talented, they can also restore their mana that way. Since this mana-restoring talent is in the Affliction tree, along with Dark Pact and extra DoT spells  (Haunt, Unstable Affliction), they make for very good PvE pets for Affliction warlocks. I don't know how well they will do in raid situations (AoE might wipe them out very fast), but for WotLK leveling Affliction coupled with a felhunter will be a very good build.

However, they have now very limited PvP use, and with the lost resistances and interrupt / silence, warlocks will have problems with casters AS WELL AS melee, making them definite underdogs due to lack of proper defences.
