And why would it be an empty realm.

guess not.

my own leveling was delayed by about 3 and half hours that it took for a GM to respond to my ticket over why would my DK get disconnected every time I logged it. Might have had something to do with a freak death in crucible of carnage, involving some dwarf and an ogre, not even being in combat in the first place.

Heh nah I'll keep my realm and myself secret ; ). But I loged on 01:10 since login servers were down. Some people were already 81 by then. But that didnt stop me : ) cought up pretty fast. I dinged in about 10h. The next 85 was two other from my guild an hour after me. Then another 85 2hours after them. So I was pretty fast :p

THinking about buying some gold, but i'm not sure.
Anyone know if one account on B.net gets banned, do all of them get banned, or just that account?

#1358145 by GettoSmurF (User) at 2010-12-09 00:53:20 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I never understood why one would pay for something like in-game gold, you play the game to achieve things and develop characters and acquiring gold for items you want to purchase if a part of that.
What's the point in playing a MMO if you don't want to put any effort into the character or items you acquire?
I'm not trying to say "don't buy gold" since it's your money and you do what you want with it but I've always been curious why people would want to buy gold or other in-game items.

You need to buy gold? Seriously? Made 3k in a week just leveling my mage. Didn`t even play the AH.

#1358162 by slacker4life (Power User) at 2010-12-09 02:54:34 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

not that I have but i can see why one would buy gold.

you have an important job, girlfriend/wife, 2 dogs, kid and a house to take care of.  your job allows you to buy said wow gold in an amount earned in real dollars per hour that it would take you a 2 weeks to make in game.

i played wow to pvp and pvp only, i didn't like wasting my time farming or raiding, if i didn't stockpile shit loads of gold from selling ratings i would have bought gold.  some people can't dedicate 70+% of there waking hours to a game, and playing casually does not allow you to be pro no matter what you say, or else your definition of pro differs from mine, top ~3% of players i'd guess get glad all realms considered.

Well thats where you are wrong. Being pro is much easier and much more time saving than being casual. A casual, lets say a casual guild wants to do some raiding. The casual guilds usually raid lets say 2-3 days for a few hours and they get nothing achived. A pro guild raids for 3hours on a wednesday, clear everything and the rest of the week you have nothing to do.

I who have a job and a gf dont actually have time to be casual. I've been casual, its way more time consuming than being pro. Learn the difference!

makes sense but i think you're confusing the word "pro" with "competent" Pro indicates making a profession out of something, not necessarily that you're good at it and can clear a raid dungeon faster than another guild. It's more about the amount of time invested in the game and being a completionist ,beyond the regular PvE weekly raid.

#1358168 by slacker4life (Power User) at 2010-12-09 03:50:09 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

first off i doubt you just became "pro" automatically it probably took you fucking ages to get that good, if in fact you are good.  second pve is kind of a joke, and a decent pve hero isn't pro at all imo.

have all the classes mastered, all fights, all professions, all aspects as to be superior to most players.  i got glad two seasons, you cannot casually get glad titles, even if your the best you still play more than casual amounts.

even if you play 3 hours a week which i fucking doubt, the amount of time you had to earlier invest to get the knowledge to only need your so called 3 hours would be off the charts.

top 3% of players would be considered pretty pro in my mind, you cannot top 3% and play casually or not have played hardcore at one point.

Actually, you could, though it's all about time efficiency. See, I play A LOT of games and I also take my studies seriously, which is why I can't "afford" to be fucking around in games anymore if I want to get things done, so I decided if I can't do it properly I'm not going to do it.

So here's what I did six or so months back:

Caught up on the most popular 2v2/3v3 comps for arenas and how they're countered: 20-30 min of reading, add another 45 min of VOD watching for fancy moves and Swifty showing off hist latest funky, but useless, warrior tricks just to be safe.

We did 15-20 games a week after the initial >1800 roflstomp and were 2150 by the end of the third week.

The rest was just grabbing gear where I could, which took about two weeks of an hour a day. Definitely something anyone could do, though most people tend to just hump around.

Edit: Might want to add that I hadn't touched the game since S4, so naturally a lot of things changed since then, hence why I found this relevant as a counterargument. Of course, it'd be a wee different if you never played the game, as you'd have to go through everything from scratch, but to be honest, I doubt it'd be that much more of a read (and I have to say I was rather generous with my "time spent reading")

2150 is pro? 15-20 games a week is pro? at least an hour a day is casual?  i didn't say decent, i said pro as in top 3%.

you can argue your side all you want but the fact is if you hit /played it's gonna be fucking retarded.

#1358229 by DjStorm (Power User) at 2010-12-09 12:16:36 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

So basically what you`re saying is that you`re pro and everyone else is not.

Ok...

#1358233 by Snuffsis (Power User) at 2010-12-09 12:26:51 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Wow what a discussion purely because i wanted to know if the whole b.net accounts gets banned if one wow account does.

Anyway, the reason i want to buy gold is simple, i have to fix up the guild with mats, bank tabs and shit like that. And it cost alot of money.

Also, it's only 1000-2000 i'm buying.

No, I merely stated that this was the rating we obtained after casually laddering (if I were to tryhard I would have to train a lot extra, as I suffer from extreme tunnel vision/hyperfocus, but this isn't applicable to most people).

Quote:

Your argument was based on what you could achieve in x hours, not what amount of time was considered "pro".

Quote:

...which is where we ended up S2 and S3, playing 10-20 games a week which, admittedly, took a lot longer back then, but is still a relevant comparison as it wasn't an absurd amount of time spent. Not counting the extra hours I put in to combat my tunnel vision.

My /played on that account was about a week before I stopped playing, after three months active (this includes going from 1-80)

I'm just saying, getting glad doesn't require a whole lot of practice, just understanding of class mechanics, which you can be up to date on if you spend 30 minutes googleing efficiently.

people...you aren't 'Pro' until you get paid, you're all just pc gamer nerds

@Snuffsis: I made 1.5k+ of gold just doing the new cata dungeons a few times and that's subtracting the cost of armor repairs etc, the net income. You should collect the money from guildies for bank tabs and ask what tab they'd like.

There is 3 kinds of players u know :fighting:

1: a player that think he can play but shows that he can't do 2 stuff at the same time (this player whines a lot ^^)

2: player that brags that he/she's the best etc and in the end he/she just sucks ^^

3: a player that can play whit all kinds of new players and still make the set-up work ^^ (pro)
