Maybe your friend sucks ?

This, DKs might not have the hardest rotation, but with no knowledge it's impossible to be close to maxDPS with DKs, they require some screwed up rotations atm.

When my friend did less than 4k dps before the patch and when the patch is live he all of a sudden does 7k+ on practice dummy? That means that Dk`s have been improved abit....o.O
and yeah, they do have some screwed up rotation, but as any1 else is able to just go to a website and find the best rotation, get used to it and there you are    So yes: I do think Dk is a easy class to play compared to others

I'd hardly call it rotation anymore, it's priority based. use whats most important and off cd.

Ehh your friend did 4k dps? Like i said i dont play anymore but i hit over 6k on patchwerk in naxx before ulduar was released so 4k with all the ubergear available now sounds pretty pathetic ?

Srsly, Im not talkin about if he`s good or not, what Im saying is the patch just made them overpowered, which allways happens with one or two classes newly after a patch. Who cares if you did 6k dps on patchwerk before the secrets of ulduar was released? xD

If I remember correctly DKs also got a heavy dps nerf somewhere in late Naxx/Early Ulduar because they were silly.

Finally took the time to raid enough to get the LK down before cata is out. Now I feel like I have nothing more to do untill the next expansion.

Now do it in heroic

While there really isn't new content to break there is still plenty of things to do especially with all the various heroics and ulduar hard modes... Unless you're in some top guild like Paragon that has already killed ICC25 without the +30% buff and literally don't have anything left to beat.

Go for the titles and achievements! Various cool mounts and what not.

And in preparation for Cataclysm get your Justice Points and Honor Points to 4k then you can buy couple highend items as soon as you reach level 85.

Then after you're done with your current character do the same things with your alts...

arent justice points limited to northrend lvl80 gear? afaik there will be another currency for lvl85 stuff in cata
honor points remains though

No JP is for cata.

nah, cata raids will use valor points

but apparently dungeons will still use JP up until lvl85 so you can use those to buy good gear until you can buy good raiding one (probably superior) using valor points

I may be a bit yesterday, but i just checked mmo-champion.com and noticed they changed their design.
I have a hunch where the designer might have gotten influense from..

No JP is for cata.

Justice points = Blue gear
Valor points = Epic gear
Honor points = PvP gear
Conquest points = Epic PvP gear

Cba to remember ilevel now though.

eh..so you may as well spend those JP now since you'll farm valor later anyway

#1348256 by unknown[392748] at 2010-11-10 23:29:50 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I believe there will be a much higher JP price to pay than what we`re used to atm
hope they give us another kind of "badge/emblem" type for epic gear and such as the beginning of wotlk.

#1348428 by Calidus (Power User) at 2010-11-11 12:11:25 (2 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

They don't plan on adding any badge progression, that's why they changed to this points system.
When a new tier or PvP season is released, all your top-tier points (valor and conquest) get converted to the lower currency (justice and honor points), and then the only way to get top-tier points is by running the latest content or doing the daily heroic.

Here's a brief rundown of the new system.

Normal lvl 85 dungeons drop ilvl 333 items.
The current design is that Justice Points are obtained from heroic dungeons and spent on rare quality ilvl 346 "heroic" gear. You can see a list and item cost here.
Valor points is obtained from raids (both 10 and 25) and by completing the daily random heroic, much like Emblems of Frost were obtained prior to patch 4.01. You buy epic quality ilvl 359 items with them. List and item costs can be seen here.

If you're interested in drop quantities, here's a blue post.

As for PvP, you get Honor Points from doing unrated Battlegrounds and Tol Barad, which is Cataclysm's version of Wintergrasp with a daily quest hub for whoever controls the zone.
You get Conquest points from rated BG's and rated arena matches. The maximum you can get is determined on a weekly basis based on your rating. The higher your rating, the more CP's you can farm per week by doing rated PvP.
You can see the items by scrolling down on this page.

Thinking of resubbing at least for a month to catch the Cataclysm event. Also thinking of rolling a mage. Any tips, seeing how last time I played was 6+ months ago?

Like, what`s the best/fastest way to catch up with all the changes?

All the mages I see spam one spell.
Arcane Blast over and over and over... 40k+ crits and shit.

Heh yea, I`d be leveling a new one tho so that`s irrelevant now.

Or you can choose to go fire for raiding, like me. It might now have the burst, or the dps, but it does more damage.

The last times I've been doing ICC, there's been two mages. Me as fire, and some other dude as arcane. We're both equally geared etc. He's doing 12k dps, while I'm doing 8-10k. At the end of the fight, I have 30% more damage done than him.

Ehm like I said, I`ll be leveling a new one... I don`t care about raiding at all. I`ll prolly be leveling frost. I`m just curious about a place where I can read up on all the changes, something more intuitive than patch notes.

Wasn't replying to you, but yo Xi0nic. I doubt he meant mages hit 40k+ anywhere else than raids.

Yea, figured, but he was replying to my post and only hanging on the fact that I was gonna level a mage, not the important stuff

Well, a price for a set of gloves in cataclysm bought with JP were around 1500-1600ish. There was a picture of the vendors on mmo-champion, but again it's the beta where things are subject to change. I have spent all of my points now for gold and so on
