Well, I'm just saying µTorrent is better because it doesn't do any of those things.

Why do people always say that BitComet is faster than µTorrent? µTorrent is just as fast, only difference is that you maybe have to tweak the default settings a bit more to reach the same speeds as BC does with default.

When you compare good things with things, there are always some things that are so good that nothing else matters, and in this case, µTorrent is so small compared to BC (and Azureus too), it doens't matter if it's a bit slower, it's still a whole lot better.

If anyone is having problems using the Torrentbytes RSS feed with the user id and passkey information this is the format that works with me:

uid=12475;pass=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX">http://www.torrentbytes.net/rss.xml:coo … XXXXXXXXXX

if you get an error "Unable to load..." it's because you entered the information incorrectly.

Thanks EzBake, but this didn't work forme but your message helped me.
Here is the link I used :
uid=12345;pass=0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef">http://www.torrentbytes.net/rssdd.xml:c … 6789abcdef

the uid and pass can be get from your browser.
Firefox : Tools / Option / Privacy / Cookies / View cookies - then search for torrentbytes cookies

The behaviour I have when double-clicking on the torrent list, is the torrent being added to the download list.
(I had an error doing the same test with wring settings/links)

Hope this helps ...

Here's guide how get RSS to work

(credits goes to DJ mctom @ ScT)

First of all, you need to make the feed url to put into the reader. You need to know your userid, your passhash and your passkey. You can get your passkey by looking at any of your torrents or going to http://www.torrentbytes.net/links.php and clicking on rss feed (it's in the url, http://www.torrentbytes.net/rssdd.xml) (note: this isn't the rss feed you use, rssdl.php has .torrent urls)

Now you need your userid and passhash, this is stored in your cookies for whatever browser you use. For firefox click tools then options. Click the privacy tab, then cookies tab, then press view cookies.
Type in torrentbytes in the search at the top and you will see your cookies for uid and pass-hash.

So, you are going to look for the torrentbytes cookies and NOT the scenetorrents as the picture shows.
(i've erased most of my passhash, i don't want you knowing that )

ok, so now you can make the url for the rss feed, it'll look something like this:
http://www.torrentbytes.net/rssdd.xml:C … 42e987aa06

Now we get to add the names of episodes we want in utorrent.
The RSS reader is accessed in the options menu -> RSS
Add your feed in on the feed tab then press favourites.

Simply type in the name of the show you want. Note that the feed reader extracts the series name from the rss feed and removes the dots. For example, the.simpsons.s01e01.pdtv-LOL, its name is 'the simpsons'.
If you look on the releases tab you can see the names that the favourites list is checking against. As you can see most show names are just their name, but high res rips are something like Stargate Atlantis HR 2.0 AC3, so you need to put Stargate Atlantis HR* into your favourites so it catches it no matter what audio codec it's using.(you could use a star for no hr rips but it's a good idea just use the exact name, ie don't type in 'the office*' put 'the office us' so you don't end up with a hr.hdtv version too (if there is one)).

If you don't have a default download directory set you need to also specify a download directory on the right side for each series. You can also specify some other options if you like, they're self explanatory.
Here's my page:

The feeds refresh every 30 mins (i'm sure that'll be changed in future versions). When the reader finds a torrent it'll add it and start it going:

Anyone have any exaples of how to use the "run a program when the torrent is completes" feature?

The reason I am asking is because I am looking for how to make my server send a messege containing the the name of the torrent, telling me when its done. I am thinking of using the net send command. Anyone have a solution for this?

anyone have any suggestions?

Found a solution for the Norton problem (for those who are interested )

Go to Options in Norton Antivirus - Internet Worm Protection - Program Control.

Simply delete Utorrent from it and everything works like a charm, atleast for me

Yes.

You click Add and write something in there that should be filtered out, then you check it. You can configure all those other options too if you like but they're optional.

thanks.

But - for example - how do you make sure it only downloads the normal HDTV one and not the HR HDTV rip (especially when the HR may appear a day or two later and will set off the same name, episode and possibly "quality" (since it's HDTV sourced aswell) on the search parameters).  And at the same time you can't make the name field too specific since that might avoid it downloading a "proper" version or if it's a different group's release one week.

Anyone got any ideas?

TIA

There's a field called Not, I think that's what you're looking for.

Just out of curiousity -- My router's been disconnecting uncommonly often ever since I've started using µTorrent client (v. 1.4).
Anyone experienced anything similar and might have possibly fixed it (or...not. -_-)?

More like the D-Link brand of routers, actually.

I'm currently corresponding with the company's Tech-Support, but I thought I'd just give it a try, in case it's not just pure randomness. If it turns out to be anything more substancial, I'll be sure to post it here.

Just a question about utorrent. Lets say I downloaded a part of a torrent, just to seed and I want to download another part to add on. Is this possible without having to remove the torrent and delete the allredy downloaded files?

It feels like they're starting to add too many features to µTorrent now, I think 1.3 still works fine

#527375 by unknown[113377] at 2006-01-30 10:43:24 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

with 5 torrents seeding and all those features it still only uses 1.5 megs. i'm happy :-)

(1.4.1-beta (build 411))

It only uses 1.5mb for you guys? For me the current 1.4 version is using 4mb of ram while seeding ONE 8gb torrent-also, on the previous versions, it always used about 4mb of ram with only 1 torrent active; still WAY better than bitcomet 70mb of ram though lol
