to find new releases for scene releases just type in the file name on newsleecher supersearch or newzbin "file search" : for example you want to download Underworld.Evolution.XViD.TS-maVen
just type in **mvn-uexvid*** on newsleecher supersearch and boom you see all the files
remember : newsgroups is 0day not 0sec..meaning it get most of the releases within 1-24 hours of a release..

they're cracking down on pirated copies of newsleecher, but there was a fix posted a few pages earlier:
Quote:
heres a fix, go to your hosts file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
Q: What is this?
A: The Internode Premium Usenet/NNTP news service offers access to the global usenet news discussion community.
Our aim is to provide our customers with the best ISP hosted, full-featured, long retention, high completion-rate usenet access service in Australia.
Q: What are the costs for using the service? Premium usenet services have monthly fees!
A: The service is available to all Internode customers at no extra cost, representing a substantial monthly cost saving for those customers currently paying subscription fees for premium news server access.
Q: What is the retention time for newsgroups in the service?
A: Our retention tracks that of Supernews.
i heard that they are trying to limit pple uploading,(not forcfully) so giving them this for free might save them a few $$
ive been trying it out and its great, not one missing piece on anything yet,,,
edit: HELP, am trying to use grabbit, but it only downloads text files that are empty,
says my download speed is like 5000kbs asell, which is impossible, any ideas??

it downloads at that spead beacuse that is the speed that it is computing the files as being finished, where the files dont exist on your server. The server you are downloading from doesnt have the files u want, so grabit thinks those txt files are the whole thing, so it thinks u are downloading at that speed, wonder y it hasnt been fized yet.

I hope you're aware that your ISP uses Supernews which advertises itself as a premium usenet provider but really has like about a days rentention on DVD groups and maybe 10 on tv-serie ones. Which might be why it might be a bit hard actully downloading the files.

So my isp's retention is 21 days which i figure is pretty good. When i download files from newleecher it says the file is 14mb but after its done downloading its only 532kb or so. Why is that. Is the post uncomplete or am i doing something wrong.
Edit: First it was 21 days when i followed the first post and then i tried another group and it shows the retention as over 200 days. Wtf

retention varies from groups to groups on isp newsgroups (sometimes on premium news-server too)..especially on dvd groups...meaning one group might have a retention of 10 ..while another group can have a retention of 15 days..thats why u are getting a 532kb file instead of 14mb file..b/c that file on that group isnt on ur server anymore...and you are getting the 200days retention is b/c that is a text file..text files last much much longer than binary files(movie files) b/c it doesnt take up alot of bandwidth and server space.. like newshosting has a text file retention of 160 days..

I downloaded an audio book that has no PAR files and the RARs are corrupted - but looking on Newzbin it says the files are completely uploaded and they're only 33 hours old.. is there anyway to fix this? Would downloading them again help? (What causes the corruption?)
Corruption is caused by a shitty news provider. It is up to the server as to how long to keep files. Or in your case, not bother to make sure the full thing is hosted.
The best thing to do is open the file in winrar, click tools then repair archive. If you lucky and you are only missing a block or so, winrar should create a new archive and all should be fine.

Newsbin may be set to add par files to scratch when using nzb files to initiate the transfer. Check the scratch list for those missing pars. You might also see more par headers if you untick the compact list view. You can also search the title with the "show NFO/PAR" checked. Last hope is to ask and wait for pars to be posted.

Ok, I found the PARs in a separate file - they were the PARs for 5 audio books together (it's a series) so I downloaded the other 4 audio books and it worked. Then I realized I also needed to change the endings from .rar to .mp3. A little strange, but they worked :p Woohoo!
New question too - the usenetserver free trial ended so I thought I would give newshosting.com a try and then make a decision at the end of the month. Now I've signed up for Newshosting and I can't connect to the server. Are they having server problems? I had no trouble using Usenetserver with GrabIt so unless there is a fundamental difference I don't know what I could be doing wrong. (Waiting to hear back from their support team at the moment.)
