Just started to wonder, that how is it possible that people can always max out their connection with these news servers? Is there just so amazing amount of bandwidth in these news servers, or how does it work?
some isp put a bandwidth cap on access to their news-server..to go over the cap you may need
to buy a premium news-server..

Anyone know how good the supply with TV DVDRiPs is on newsgroups?
It's more than weak on torrents for sure...

the main ones are alt.binaries.multimedia and alt.binaries.tv, but many more popular shows like stargate, bsg, etc usually have their own groups that constantly repost entire seasons.

If you look at their main page you can see this message:

We're currently having trouble with one of our backend spool servers. This is causing random connection issues and problems fetching articles. We're currently working to resolve the problem.

As OsiKzoR said, they are having problems, not only can you not login to your control panel, now you won't be able to connect properly either.I'd say an hour or so for them to fix the connection problem, maybe longer to access your control panel.
They are usually quick at fixing problems.
LanceVance, I think in order to get higher speeds you will need to pay your ISP or pay for access from somewhere else.

One thing you can try is to open more connections to the server. In some cases with isp's they allow a capped limit per connection and have about 4 connections.

Question: My ISP doesnt censor any newsgroups, it allows me to download at my internet connection's max speed (which is 260k/s) and it has 7 day retention. Is there any reason why I should pay for a news server, when the download speed will be the same and the only difference will be retention?
I mean, usually I download stuff right when its released, so I dont even see the point of like, month long retention, unless your lazy and only download stuff thats a month old already.
ANd lets not forget having access to a bunch of top notch torrent sites is good too.

If your happy with the service your isp has than there is no reason to pay for a seperate server. The reason most do is because their isp's news service sucks.
Thats the same with me, i have max dl speed and ~7 day retention. That is the only difference between paid and your news service. Every once and a while Ill miss a dvd or something, but Im usually good a prioritzing them so I get what I need first and don't wait.

Yea thats what I thought-plus, if you have a membership on a site like Torrentbytes, and possibly a few others that have both 0-day and older movies etc, then theres really no problem-I personally prefer to use torrent sites to newsgroups anyways-much more convenient and almost as fast if its a good tracker like TB.

Where can I find that rarslave app?
sum newsgroup sites wouldnt go amiss either
# i dont get this newsgroup thing.. no way to find newly released things, it doesnt sort them very well, you find about 5 versions of the same thing and you have no idea of knowing what new stuff has been added. what a confused mess.

Try ozum if you want free and easy search and grabbing of full releases. ozum seems to be slower downloading, but you don't have to do as much work to select attachments. You can also focus first on the first or last few headers which often contain the .nzb

whenever I find something new has been released I just use binsearch.info to find it. they're usually pretty up to date, and you can make a customized .nzb from whatever search results you get. and it also has a firefox extension so you have the search bar for binsearch in the corner.
in fact, i just woke up, saw that Munich dvdscr was released so I search binsearch for munich, found it, made a nzb, and voila, i'm downloading.

tredici : where are you seeing new releases before you search for them?
Still can't find rarslave or how to use the app anywhere, seems to be a bunch of different apps called rarslave.
