Lan parties are for geeks.
Get a life. Evolve youre social life. You dont have to be in front of a computer, to talk with other people.
Go to real parties and get drunk. Just dont be a geek.
You're on the wrong site.

I am Admin at a LAN party...
LAN Parties have admins too?
Of course, you don't expect a group of 50+ people to be able to run a LAN smoothly without admins?
The Crew sets up everything at lanparties, ranging from tables, electrical cables, networking stuff like hubs/switches, etc .. They configure the servers (if such are used) and so forth. The leaders of the crew are commonly called admins.

The biggest where I've been is Assembly. Waiting for next year already.
And yes, home LANs isn't that bad either, but usually they do focus more to beer and sauna instead of the true idea of LAN. But there is not nothing bad in that. I freaking love them!
Next year is gonna be my 4th time on assembly =)
It's freaking nice demo-party and see you there (maybe)"

Hahahaha, seems a lot of you have got the wrong picture of lan parties XD
There are lame lan parties, I'll admit that, just as there are " lame" regular parties out there.
Our lan parties are usually a blast, I use to team up with my girlfriend and my two best mates and then we have fierce team vs team competition for a couple of days. It all depends on the persons. If there are only asocial "geeks" there, it won't be much fun, but neither is a real party with those kind of guests XD you get the hint? Don't say get a life XD that's stupid. Lan parties can be as social as any other party you can come up with. Probably most fun if you're with people whom you know really well tho. So I guess it's not a good idea for you insecure people who just likes to "get drunk and find a friend"
*EDIT* whoops, sorry, someone already educated the mob

I find it hilarious that some people think LAN parties are a bad thing. The people that actually do go on these geek-parties usually have a blast. There's nothing like driving a 4 seat jeep, packed full with fellow brothers in arms; and even one kneeling on the hood, just to find yourself crashing into another fullpacked tank and when the dust settles you still hear the people around you screaming and laughing about who did what and pointing fingers.
Battlefield is truly at its best at LAN parties.
Girls who like playing computer games usually also have lots of fun. The thing that seems to keep most people away is the fear that it's too "geeky". True, it's mostly people with some form of computer knowledge, but not a lot above average. Most of the people ar the LAN party I'm at now are actually "normal" people who go on parties and nightclubs regularly (some of them are even the "cool kids" in class), they just go on LAN parties every now and then because they have really good time.
The whole "get away from your computer and get a life"-thing doesn't really apply to LAN parties since you actually have to work to get your computer transported to these venues. I suggest you try it, at least once in your life.[/quote]
The leaders of the crew are commonly called admins.
Can they ban people too? Or kick them out?

Of course! Depending on the size of the LAN parties, there are usually bouncers on the bigger ones, but they call them security. If an admin says somebody needs throwing out, these guys do it.
If somebody turns up too drunk, the admins don't even have to say anything.

Never been to one. Once, I met a LAN person and he was FAT!!!
Thus my conclusion that if you go to LAN parties, you'll eventually get fat.
That means you Eezee!
