Get a life. Evolve youre social life. You dont have to be in front of a computer, to talk with other people.
Go to real parties and get drunk. Just dont be a geek.
Worthless is the advice of fools.

I find it hilarious that some people think LAN parties are a bad thing. The people that actually do go on these geek-parties usually have a blast. There's nothing like driving a 4 seat jeep, packed full with fellow brothers in arms; and even one kneeling on the hood, just to find yourself crashing into another fullpacked tank and when the dust settles you still hear the people around you screaming and laughing about who did what and pointing fingers.
Battlefield is truly at its best at LAN parties.
Girls who like playing computer games usually also have lots of fun. The thing that seems to keep most people away is the fear that it's too "geeky". True, it's mostly people with some form of computer knowledge, but not a lot above average. Most of the people ar the LAN party I'm at now are actually "normal" people who go on parties and nightclubs regularly (some of them are even the "cool kids" in class), they just go on LAN parties every now and then because they have really good time.
The whole "get away from your computer and get a life"-thing doesn't really apply to LAN parties since you actually have to work to get your computer transported to these venues. I suggest you try it, at least once in your life.
I've never been to one, but they sound pretty good. @zxspectrum : I think it's like a party, but instead of beer there are computers, and instead of chicks, there are network cables connecting everybody, so you can share files and play network games.
zx's edit: Thanks for the explanation. I've heard about it, but never had the chance to go to one. You know, wife, kids, work...
The grass is always greener on the other side as they say.. I'm sure alot of people would rather be on your side of the field if you know what i mean , nothing to be sad about.

I wouldn't use that "instead of girls" as there are often a lot of females there at some LAN parties.. It just depends on if the party you are at or the venue you are at is big enough and the chicks that know about them happens to know about them or not. There are a lot of chicks that are into games and going to them. I think it is more about timing and location. More along the lines of time and place, etc..
No offence, but some of that paragraph didn't make much sense. Seeing as it's Friday night i'll assume its down to annebriation, I'm sure you're normally on the ball. Thanx for letting me know, i've never actually been to one either, assumed it wouldn't attract so many women.

The biggest where I've been is Assembly. Waiting for next year already. And yes, home LANs isn't that bad either, but usually they do focus more to beer and sauna instead of the true idea of LAN. But there is not nothing bad in that. I freaking love them!
