Well, if you're looking for a short series give Kara no Kyoukai a try. Only 7 episodes... well, more like mini-movies really. Some ep's are 48 minutes and two of them are almost 2 hours.

However since you mentioned 'action/mecha/fighting' I think you'll find all 3 in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. It's a 26 episode series based on the manga and movie but seperate from both. However if you read the manga you'd notice some scenes and episodes are right out of the manga just added to the series because it wasn't in the movie.

Ugh... Why does every season there seems to be more like this crap coming out.

Is there really such a high demand for this? I don't know who would watch this ecchi-crap. (disturbed old men aside) Or am I missing something and a lot of girls watch this?

Just watch code geass you won't be disappointed especially if you allready like mecha because even mecha haters seem to love code geass.

Truer words were never put on the internet. Or anime forum board for that matter. Personally I can't stand mecha series like Gundam but I did like the first season of Code Geass. Most likely because it had the same cliffhanger endings as DeathNote but lighter on the slippery slope theme of totalitarianism by a single person.

A Decent Fighting anime is Kenichi, i really liked it and iv seen my share of fighting series.
Other than that if you want to try a new genre you should try watching: Twelve Kingdoms, Serei no moribito. Both 2 top time amazing adventure animes.

I have watched anime religiously for the past 20 years or so and after hearing you nuts going on about One Piece so often (Not something I would even try watching) I have finnaly decided to give it a spin. Have there ever been any packs on TB for it in the past? And does anyone suggest any fansub group over another for the series?

There was a pack with all of the episodes released up until then I think.

Right now I'd recommend Yibis, dunno about the past ones.

Haven't seen any packs on here, but we do get treated to the new episodes weekly.
