I don't want a lot of anime and am certainly not obsessed. I have only seen Death Note, Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (my favorite) and am currently watching Umineko No Naku Koro Ni. What are some other anime you guys can recommend? Something like Higurashi? Thanks.

It doesn't get any better than Berserk. Nothing of any genre. Elfen Lied is good cuz you want gore, but cut the good story off the list

Berserks rather crappy animation makes it less worthy of watching, though still good!

I found the Gantz-anime to be pretty brutal as well.

Shigurui Death Frenzy < Thats one badass gore samurai anime. The style is kind of different, less color except for RED ^^ but i liked it alot.
